Islam doesn't consider Jesus the son of God, in fact they even deny that he was hung on the cross. Most Christian sects believe that the Bible which includes the Old Testament (Torah) and the New Testament and the Apocryphal books (if you're catholic, as protestants do not recognize those books) are the only Holy Books that are ordained by God and all other books are by false prophets. That is why they are at odds.

It is mainly for their differences in the beliefs. Christians view Jesus as the ultimate God and Saviour but Muslims beg to differ. The history of both religion is quite closely linked and more of the idea conflicting rather than the facts.

Islam accepts that Jesus is real but that he is merely a profit of Allah (Or atleast that's what my sister told me).

PS- Wiki is a lame source lol.

    Muslims: Jesus is a prophet.
Christians: Jesus is the son of god.

Muslims: God has no children or companions.

Muslims believe in Jesus. We call him Prophet Isa and he is one of our most beloved Prophet's. Bob, don't take this the wrong way but I suggest you do some more reading on Islam and Muslims and the true religion; there is a difference between the true Islam and the one portrayed by the media as a radical. As Plato said, "Ignorance, the root and stem of all evil." :)

If you wish to know more about Islam and Muslims, feel free to ask questions.

P.S. I didn't come here to argue. I came merely to clarify a false statement :)

Islam, Christianity, and Judaism all stem from the same beliefs. The reason they are not on the same page is interpreting who is the messiah or son of god. Islam, and Judaism still believe that a prophet is coming.

    Fre5h is exactly right.
Emperor Nero that is a false accusation you are making. Muslims don't deny that he was hung on the cross; they simply believe that Prophet Isa (Jesus) was raised into the heavens by God.
Here is what the Quran says and what they believe:

That is what I said. They deny that he was hung on the cross.
"but they killed him not, nor crucified him" - that is a denial. Unless your definition of denial is different than mine.

It's kind of like saying that someone didn't deny murdering someone else, but they said 'I didn't kill them'.

    3.

I misspoke. I read your comment in an entirely different moment and made a wrong interpretation of it (the "in fact" made me read it in a different manner than intended) x) Forgive me for being so hasty.
