"safing" eating while pking

Don't bother listening to what others think they don't make the rules for how you pk you do. and most people who say stop safing are trying to annoy you so you will be busy typing instead of healing etc. so they can get a quick ko.

 

I agree with you. I was used to PK'ing back in the pre 2006 era, and when I first came back to RS last summer, I had no idea what the hell safing even was. Every time I got in a fight in the wilderness, people were accusing me of "safing." Over time I started to understand it a little better and why it's such a big deal nowadays..

Back in the "old days," nobody even gave a shit about safing because people were a lot more honourable. It was very common to actually stay to the death when engaging in a good fight, and it was common to eat whenever the hell you wanted to, as PK'ing was based less on KO's and more on strategy and outlasting your opponent. A person could safe all they wanted, but they would be much more likely to run out of food first and subsequently be defeated.

Nowadays with all these spec weapons, KO'ing is extremely easy and requires very little skill, in my opinion. Along with all the new weapons, armours, and updates to the wilderness, came a whole new generation of PK'ers and rules associated with PVP. Things like PJ'ing became much more common, "rushing" was born and accepted as a new style of PK'ing (when in reality it's actually very pathetic), and kills are now obtained by getting a lucky spec off and dealing out a ridiculously high amount of damage in mere seconds so that your opponent cannot teleport or run. Because of this, "safing" is now considered dishonourable (ironic, considering the lack of honour in PK'ing anyways these days), as it makes it more difficult for your opponent to be able to kill you with a lucky spec. So basically, when somebody is getting mad at you for safing, they are getting mad at you because you are not allowing your HP to drop down low enough that they can kill you.

I can understand why safing is annoying, and I've even been on the other side of it where I get pissed off at somebody for constantly safing and making it hard to get a KO. But I still think when it comes down to it, the concept of "safing" is a complete load of shit... it's quite ridiculous to expect your opponent to allow their hitpoints to drop low enough to a level that is considered "acceptable" when you think about it. At least in my opinion.

now that you say that i actually understand that word more because when you'r in a brid fight even in edge or anywhere but there and your just "Fighting" not "Pking" i guess people don't really care about "Safing" as much

But @ the OP i do agree with what your saying but like someone else said when people are out of food, they tele..soo...you kind of have to let them know to stop eating so much, and i guess give both of the players a better chance of a kill

 

safers is a term people call someone who keeps his HP above the other person maxium hit, in an attempt to keep from getting k0ed.

most people who get mad at safers are ones who do not know how to combo correctly.

when i used to pk i safed, as the point of pking is to kill people any means possible, so why let your hp stay low so you can get k0ed easily?

not safing is like putting 5 bullets in a six shooter, and hoping to get that 1 empty slot, anyone who hates safers should just l2combo better.

Anyways, OT - Safing is quite annoying to me as I have a zerker that I pk on quite a bit and to me you should be fine sitting at about 1/2 - 3/4 hp but if you eat over 3/4 it just seems like safing and if you pk a lot you should know about different eating combos to regain a lot of hp in a short amount of time. (Rocktail - brew ect.)

Also, I see lots of people complaining about overpowered special weapons and armour which I do agree it's a little stupid but you have to remember they've also added new ways to heal and counter act the cheap weapons (Not all but some) like rocktails that heal more hp and allow you to go over max health, soulsplit which allows you to heal while doing damage ect.

 

The big issue with safers is they really have no intention of winning the fight as they are either too busy eating or running away. Its a waste of time, thats why it gets up everyone's noses.

Sometimes yes, sometimes the random hit generator that jagex uses determines who does more damage. Either way, so what? Once your food is gone in edgeville you run or tele and both parties just wasted supplies. Edegville is for koing, not for draining someone of their food till death like old skool mage bank used to be.

You realise PJ means pile jumped? As in YOU JUST PKED someone and now someone is trying to pk you.

Wtf are you doing in black d hide? I highly doubt you are out there skilling or questing like you claim. And even if you did have a reasonable explanation for being there (such as dragon killing) you would still have to have engaged the person back in a fight for anyone to call you a safer.

Already answered this, it's pointless to sit in edgeville with full hp bars draining each others supplies.

Ok you must just be fucking retarded. Dming is the only time when safing would be acceptable since running or teleing is not an option and kos don't matter.

 

Unless you're eating at 600-700+ then you're not safing (assuming you're maxed combat).

It depends though on what the opponent is using. If hes got a gs/xbow/cmaul or any high hitting weapons, then eating above mid health is fine. Even then, you can get raped with a well timed ags veng combo.

Even though I have a decent bank, i still run if i run out of food since the person im fighting would, and im just damn lazy to re gear up if i die.

 

if they can k0 you or potentially get to down to really low hp its not safing imo
