Yes, it was, along with many other rare names in 2005.
Y and K were both sold on here. K was around 10m and I'm pretty sure Y was sold for 14m.

Btw I don't get why everyone is flipping out, I've seen so many 1 letter/number names.

for those making these rumors about this account... This is what happened.

When name changing first come out, The original K (Log In) found a nice name fr hes mate and change "K" to that nice name. But turns out that nice name was not so nice by jagexs book and got him banned from changing hes name, so then this guy 'Level 138 K" Sniped the name.

Also, if any one is wondering the name is not for sale and never will be.

Because it's a currency to buy ingame items and skills with, names are not currency. The currency doesn't get recovered or locked either.
