    Where to go from here?

Ok so basically I am attempting to self teach myself photoshop and my current sig is the one I am most happy with, it's clean, but painfully basic. I was wondering if anybody had some advice on where I could go from here as far as expanding my skills and stuff. Thanks! Just a side not please don' say box signatures, I like mine to have a transparent backround...

To get hold of effects do tags (what you call box signatures), to become good at GFX you need to do something like that.
If you don't like this, just keep experimenting.

    Where to go from here?

Is there some sort of recourse I can use to find new effects? All of the ones i'v found are for effects in tags.

Right, so, learning how to make tags is great for your overall knowledge, so even tho you dislike to do so, I highly reccomend you to look up some tutorials.
Tagging is alot harder and takes up alot more effort and skill then you think, but trust my word: it really pays off.
Suggestions for doing transperant text signatures.. mm..
Dont throw your brushes over your text, it makes it barely readable.
Learn how to make shadows that are very soft to the eye, they can be very aesthetically pleasing.
Learn how to conroll glow effects, fairly hard for beginners but pays off, too!
I won't tell you how to do this, as experimeting yourself is much more satisfying and you might learn a couple more things in the process.
    Goodluck!

You should experiment with textures and stocks from packs in our resource section. Try setting them to overlay your text and see how well they work out. I'm a big fan of glowy type c4d and light streak effects, on 3d transparent signatures, it looks great, so that may be worth a try.
