    Got phishing email... need help

    It says

    From : runescape ([email protected])
When I look at Runescapes official website it says...

Down at How to spot a phishing E-mail.

Now I KNOW the one ive got is fake....
Because its asking for account info and such and on the website it says jagex doesnt do that... BUT HOW is the email same?
I also noticed on the website it says from @email.Jagex.com ... the J is capital, but that shouldnt make a difference... im so confused.

How is the fake email ive been sent... the same... I can post pics if needed...
    Hell Ill do it now..

    See the email is @email.jagex.com

You can check one of two ways.

Obviously you can log on to your account, and if it's not disabled, then delete the email and carry on.

The next way is to check the headers. It's a bit more complicated than what I want to explain, but if you Google how to check the info headers you'll be able to see the original source of the email.
Phishers are able to spoof their email address to make it look legit, but it usually isn't. I've received hundreds of these emails, and they happen with regularity.

I say delete the email and carry on. If they're asking you to confirm your email and password on their "link providied", that's a sure sign that it is a phisher. :)

thing is ive recieved many of these kinds of emails

    mostly from ones like
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

and such, ones that are obviously fake
This is the first and ONLY one ive ever recieved from
@email.jagex.com and its clearly fake, but that exact email on their website says that jagex does infact send msgs from.... but how can that be, when its fake...

sry im just trying to figure this out

Definitely a Phishing email, as Jagex wouldn't email you to tell you these kind of things.

As Tezlin said, the easiest way to check would just be to go to runescape.com and log into your account (without following the links in the email)

You can also hover your mouse over the links in the email. You should see at the bottom of your browser where the link actually goes to...and it won't be the runescape website.

Unfortunately it's pretty easy to fake an email address, so I wouldn't pay much attention to that

It's obvious that it's fake only from the content in it, in my opinion.

if the email starts out like "Dear player, you account has been suspected of....." then its F A K E and just ignore it.

Jagex will always name your character/account in the email.

Also you can try replying back to the sender and if it gives a failure notice minutes later, then its obviously fake.

Just flag every one of those emails. They will only email you if you have requested it, e.g. Recovering an account or such.

My guess is that the email you were sent is from @emaiI.jagex.com
But, because of the Hotmail font, it shows up as @email.jagex.com
