HELP: MSVCR71.dll is missing from my computer?

So, i'm trying to use Simba, I get all the way to the 'Run' section, just before the client pops up, i get the error:

The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Researched on the internet, tried alot of things... nothing is working, can someone please help?

It's probably been deleted at some point, you could try doing a system restore to a point when the file wasn't deleted. An OS reinstall is another option.

 

Currently doing a system restore, although the first attempt was unsuccessful, which was apparently something to do with my antivirus. I'll inform you on the results.

Edit: Restore was unsuccessful, maybe because something is corrupted. Maybe a virus?

 

Have you done any virus scans lately? If so, which one(s) did you use?

 

Using the paid version of Kaspersky (No threats found) and just installed Malwarebytes again.
It's scanning at the minute but nothing has been found.

Reguarding the system restore problem; many people are getting the same problem but theirs is because of Norton anti-virus. However, I did read one post, which claimed to be from microsoft, that this problem occurs when you try and register a dll without administrator crededentials, which I might of done.

 

Kaspersky and Malwarebytes are very good programs, Norton's a load of shit. If I ever have a missing DLL file I'll either try and recover it or just do a OS reinstall, getting a new DLL just never seems to work for me.

 

Go download that dll file then place it in, C:/windows/system32/

I think that will fix it.

I've been trying to get a new DLL for it now, because apparently Windows 7 is often left out with msvcp71 + msvcr71, which I suspect is what I am missing.
I doubt mine have gone 'missing', so maybe a OS reinstall is best?

Edit: My Malwarebytes has just detected 1 thing

Downloaded it a number of times, also placed it in SystemWOW64, still get the same error message when trying to open Simba.

Looking through my SystemWOW64, I cannot actually see MSVCP71 + MSVCR71, I have pasted the ones I have just downloaded and am still getting the damn error message.
