    A fetus does not have the capacity to consent. Also, why isn't ending the life of a cow just as bad, it doesn't consent?
    Don't know if it's directed at me; never mentioned euthanasia. If someones ambitions and dreams are to die, then you're actually fulfilling them, are you not?

    Murder: the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. Cows aren't human, fetuses, can we say?

    I meant euthanasia isn't murder and can't be looked at it like it is, if someone was going to bring that point up.

    Alright, now we've narrowed it down to human beings, which brings it back to my original point: why is killing human beings wrong? You cannot say consent if you do not take into account other speciese; you exempt human beings from the same treatment as other species, why is this? (Please do not say because the law says so)

    Actually, if you look at your definition of murder

    A single skin cell MAY be a human being. I mean, it does contain 100% human DNA. Should we try a stabber for 1,000,000 counts of murder for killing 1,000,000 skin cells in addition to the assault charge? We don't know if it is a human or not so we should just in case. A guy walking down the street could pull a gun and shoot me. Since we don't know whether or not he will, I should shoot him first because he COULD BE a murderer. I could go on and on.

    I personally don't mind abortions.
    I'd rather the people get rid of a baby as I wouldn't want a baby to be born and it's not wanted by it's parents. It would probably have a crappy life.

    That said though, I don't think you should be stupid enough to get into the situation were you need to get an abortion.

    It should very much be legal.. if people don't or best yet CANT afford a baby then let them get an abortion.. all we need now is another baby for food stamps and etc which we taxpayers have to take care of.. (common thing black people do.. did you hear of article where doctor tied up woman's uterus because she was popping babies like pills and couldn't afford em?).. imagine this all you pro-lifers.. imagine every woman right now having a baby but not being able to afford it.. well now your tax just went up 200% because you have to help pay for em since they can't.. and now the government goes into a recession because we go into more debt.. congratulations you fucked up the country.

    A fetus is not a human being. We've already determined that. Your argument is an appeal to (falsely presumed) ignorance. I don't see how speculation is involved with abortions.
    A fetus is not human life. It has already been legally determined. Abortion is already lawful. The fetus isn't killed because it isn't alive. It isn't a human being. I don't see how abortion is murder in any sense of the word.

    I'm quite sure that a fetus is a Homo sapien. Thus, it is a human being.

    If it isn't a human being, which species is a fetus part of?

    Legal. The baby doesn't know it's alive. Plus, you're saving it from possible misery should it have unfit parents.. But argue the former since the latter is circumstantial.

    I agree with it to be fair, if you know you can not handle a child then you shouldn't have one. It would be horrible for the child to grow up in a house where the mother can not handle it.

    Then being a homo-sapien brings nothing to the table for this debate. And saying whether or not something is deemed a person depends on your definition shows that it is different for everything which then points to pro-choice. Let people decide what their view is and act on it.

    fetus = homo sapien
    person = homo sapien
    person =/= fetus

    is that so hard to understand?

    it is like saying:
    person a: oranges should get eaten because they are not apples
    person b: well oranges are fruits, and so are apples. why would you eat oranges but not apples? they are both fruits.
    person a: facepalm*

    feti do not have consciousness, so I see no harm in aborting them.
    and for the person saying that it cannot consent. ok, it cannot consent. it also cannot currently possess a personality, form coherent thoughts or do any other things that put humans apart from animals that we slaughter.

    first off, a lot of white ppl pop out babies like they are pez dispensers as well. so dont be getting all racist up in here.

    second, you are in a recession because of an out of control military budges and poor regulations on ur financial system.

    do some research before condemning ppl.

    I never said it did; never even implied it.

    By 'your' I do not mean one's personal definition. The colloquial definition of person and the definition used in jurisprudence are two vastly different things.

    Here is the colloquial definition of person: A human being regarded as an individual.

    Here is a jurisprudence type of definition for person (Taken from wikipedia, if that's ok): A person is a being, such as a human, that has certain capacities or attributes constituting personhood.

    Hence, it does depend on the definition you use; in a conversational context a human being is a person, period. In a debating, philosophical context, most human beings are considered 'persons', but simply being a human does not grant them the status of 'person'. The problem that exists is when people equivocate the former with the latter.

    Before you try correcting people you should do your research. The reason the economy in the hole is the failure of social programs due to Reagan taking the 'lock' off social security borrowing, so the government borrowed unregulated from money that it owed the people on retirement.

    OT:

    A person is a human being who has/had consciousness at one point in their being.

    What if the parent wants to keep the child, but know if they do decide to keep it the baby will be put into danger? Would it be more humane to abort it or wait until its born and say beaten to death by an abusive other? Or if the parent them self is not mentally fit to care for the child and has no one who can care for it

    Agreed 100%.

    By the logic that anti-abortionists use contraceptives is also murder. Stopping what would be human life.

    I'm for abortions but half of the people's reasoning here is disgusting. An individual should not have the right to live because of the chance they'll have a bad life? Should we just commit genocide to people living in poverty then?
