java experience required for a rs bot?

alright, i just got enrolled in pre-ap computer sciences for next year at my highschool. and i was wondering how much real java coding experience is needed for coding a rs bot script? i already know a little bit of pascal, not too much though. its apperantly a class for people with absolutely no java experience, and im not sure how in depth its gonna go over the course of the year. but could someone tell me the approximate difficulty of writing average rs bot script? thanks

 

To make a script for RSBot, you just need to learn the syntax, loops, statements and variable use.

 

so it should be relatively easy? i think since its first year stuff, it will probably be mostly syntax and st00f like dat

 

Yeah , you would hope so. A lot of your scripts flawlessness will depend on the bot.

 

ya, i figured my first script will be on rarebot, just because of the simplicity of it, although the api is still a little messed up...they SHOULD be patching it all up soon though

To start, none. Of course, having a nice math basis and a good logic always help.

Just read the java basics, read some scripts and try to understand them fully. Then you'll be able to start creating.

It's true that you can start making scripts by looking at how other peoples scripts work. But it is VERY scary how poorly coded most of the open source scripts are. Many don't know how to use a simple switch, much less how to make their own classes.

I guess the thing you really should keep in mind is that, even though the script might work, it does not mean that it was well written. Getting bad programming habits when you start can haunt you forever.

 

RS bots require a lot more than just java...

 

Its not hard to make simple script. For making a AIO flawless script with nice GUI and all u need to know some more java

 

That's different from making a bot, you can use a existing framework with a solid API like powerbot(not sure what the state of the project is since the bot nuke though, i know they've been struggling for a while and i don't like/trust Paris either).
