If you can't trust a seller enough to go first to them then how can you trust them enough not to recover their account after the trade?

I can completely agree with this, since the owner can recover an account at any point.

I would say that if the user is really trusted (100+ vouches) and you know that the account wont be recovered, I wouldnt have a problem seeing that trade mm'ed if the buyer wanted it. Just for a secure state of mind for the buyer.

How can that be a secure state of mind? I'd rather hand someone my gp and know instantly that I'm scammed. As opposed to logging into the account every day training skills, putting loot on it wondering if tomorrow I will still have the account or not.

Even some trusted users WILL eventually recover, because they know how hard it is to prove an account was recovered. Most people get caught for account reselling, rather than getting reported for the actual recovering.

However on kabal's point, I completely agree.

True, I've MMed tones of account trades and there's no way to tell if the user will actually recover it or not, even if you did a recovery test.

They are simply useless to do and time wasting, as the original owner will always be able to recover no matter what.

Best solution is to get an extremely trusted user, as many of you stated.

So how are people like me supposed to get rid of their old accounts gathering dust?

Good point, I've been thinking about this aswell. I still believe that a MM is helpful for a trade though. A MM will most likely have more experience with trading than both of the other participants and the MM could warn one of them that the other guy is acting sketchy, for example.

Going first doesn't meant that a guy won't recover the account though, and not going first doesn't mean that the guy will recover it either.

It might be an indication though.

Sometimes. Though an mm isn't required to do that.

That's not really relevant since an mm would still not be of any help when it comes it comes to whether or not a person will recover

ill tell you right now recovery tests are completely worthless

in 2010 I purchased an account off here for 110M I believe, it was a near maxed initiate pure and we used a OMM. It passed the recovery test. It was recovered 2 days later and I was out 110M + OMM Fees.

I've bought off the top of my head 7 accounts off Sythe and 5 have been recovered. Left with 2.

You can always get the account back after immature people mute it for 2 days for saying "rswalmart" or take it even further by breaking more server rules in an attempt to ban it. Or getting your f cape, chaotics etc alched.

The burden should be on the buyer to go first imo, if they are serious about buying an account

Couldnt agree more. I personally get my accounts trained now instead of buying them. That way i am recovering from IP made which is most of the battle won, and I can provide all details down to time created... which when both used, easily beat mems detail and recov questions.

Not even worth to buy account from someone who isn't trusted.

A donation rank does not reflect if a person is trusted or not.
I've already seen it happening a couple times in my time here on Sythe that people joined, go to 5$ by donating RSGP, donated another 45$ or 95$ or even 195$ through PayPal to get 50$/100$/200$ donator rank. Doing lots of sales for about a month - mainly account sales. After about a month something happens and they get banned and chargeback the amount they donated and recover all the accounts.
But yeah I agree that a donation rank is some sort of indication if you could potentially trust someone. It helps.

I agree with this but it also sucks for people like me with no vouches who want to sell an account legitimately :(.
