    AMD vs Intel

    Your preference?

Why would you go for this one over the other?

I personally have an AMD at the moment, and I pretty sure I'll switch to an Intel, as AMD seems to be able to take a lot less than Intel.

Everyone knows Intel > AMD. Intel does cost more but it is generally almost always more powerful than AMD is. I would always go for Intel over AMD however.

Intel is far better than AMD. The last generation of chips has proven that. A lot of people do use AMD if they are on a tight budget but performance wise, Intel is far ahead.

Intel. I mean, if you can't even spend the money for a 2500k, you shouldn't really buy a pc since that will be the first thing you wanna upgrade..

Intel, mainly due to it having the best price to performance ratio of the two. But I guess it depends on the type of build I'm doing. Say, a cheap lan rig, cheap PC for my parents/grandparents or something I'd probs go w/ AMD. But for my main rig I'd rather stick w/ Intel for now.

Yeah, I neglected to consider the purpose.. I'd probably just go with whatever the cheapest is for a facebook machine.

Under $200 for the CPU AMD beats out intel, under $300 for CPU/mobo combo, AMD wins again too. The price to performance varies throughout the spectrum and upon your budget. The AMD APU's are also amazingly priced for the performance.

This may be considered off topic, but didn't AMD post a press release about phasing out of chips?

Basically if you're too cheap or poor and don't value a powerful machine, AMD has your name on it.

My $350 amd (3.2ghz) rigs runs 2-3 less simbas then my $750 i7 2600k overclocked to 4.4ghz. If I had the spare cash I would pick an Intel over Amd. But in my case I have them both.

    AMD vs Intel

The days of AMD having the best processors are gone, their current CPUs are not up to scratch. The lower end ones are decent value for money though, and quite power efficient.

Intel looks certain to get a monopoly in the PC CPU market in the future, with AMD recently admitting that they are facing a losing battle.
