Recent spike in people wanting to bot for profit?

I was wondering why people are recently all about botting for profit? Is it because Jagex didn't stop the bots perm and it seems like this could be a long term thing?

I mean bots are worse, everything good is being extremely farmed, all methods are crashing extremely hard, and the only really safe bot doesn't solve all randoms.

Also not to mention its more expensive to bot now.

Now you have to really watch your bots. Befor oct 25, 1994 it wasnt a bit deal to bot farm.. Bots would go for a week at a time and it was cheap to bot..

The most ironic part is that there are more people (excluding Chinese) that are botting on a big scale.

I mean to really profit now botting, you need to bot 30 acc's 20+ hours dialy. Who has the time to be able to do that? Especially considering you'll have to most of the time manually solve the random events.

Anybody have any opinions on what I've stated? Maybe I'm wrong here? Anybody else have anything to add?

The people who want to goldfarm either don't have a job or want supplemental money (kids, schooling) and it looks extremely enticing. In theory, botting is an extremely profitable, low risk, low work business that has the potential (and does for some people) make huge profits.
The influx is because the bots have returned and people have realized that the market has not become over-saturated (yet and it looks like popular methods are already becoming saturated).
Also anyone who existed in other eras of botting and entered late probably feel like this is the perfect time to get their feet in the door as the first establishers (gold farming works a lot like gold mining).

A lot of them are just kids that think they can make some money from gold farming but fails super hard. Atleast bot makers can make a lot of good money like these

`Probably a bunch of people thinking they can make a quick buck running a few bots on there personal pc. Nowadays its much harder to bot. Back in the day I would run 100+ bots and was able to run 20-26 per computer. Now I can only run 5-10 per computers and I make similar profits per hour per account but I use up 5x more cpu. Back then even when bots supported randoms it was a bitch to fix them all day. It was really a full time job! As punker said all the good methods are crashing :/

So for all new comers please be careful when you start your farm.

I think that as long as there is a demand for RSGP, people will always try to find the best methods of gold farming. Even if it means doing things by hand.

Alot of the current methods that I have heard of actually don't involve doing anything too complicated. Alot of them are simple skills or actions you can perform at a bank with simple scripts, and they provide small, but steady hourly profits.

It also appears to me that there is more kids botting for personal profits now than there was before. Everybody seems to want a piece of the pie, and people have realized you don't have to have a massive super-computer set up OR have to be running a gold site to successfully bot gold farming methods. Whether they are botting to sell the RSGP or botting to fund their own RS characters, I think botting for profits will always be popular because it requires so little effort, yet the profits are quite substantial.

Hey, you can make much more botting than you can working a part-time minimum wage job like at McDonald's...

You dont need to have a high school+higher degree of education to set up bots too.

It's mainly a bunch of little kiddies who think it's easy and actually profitable.

They don't realize the cost of a good computer or a VPS and then on top of that managing 10s of different accounts, re-buying them all membership, getting the proper levels, and constantly checking up on them to make sure they are running smoothly.

All for what? A few bucks every moth. All the good methods are overused and abused anyways.

You would make a lot more money stably if you just got a regular job.

Think gold prices that went back up a bit had something to do with it.

The idea of making money for free is very enticing to people who are too young, or don't want to get a job.

I think he is refering to the fact that most current bots take a decent amount more of the cpu than they use to thus you need a bigger system or a bigger vps which means less profit.

I personally started a small bot farm a few weeks ago. The main reason I started was because, on paper, it seemed like a fantastic idea. However in the longer run, you realise it takes a lot more effort than you think. I started small-scale to see how things would go, and I'm not to sure whether I'll go to a larger scale.

But yeah, people seem to think "Hey, I can maintain 20 bots a day, and my maths makes it out that I'll make $150 a week yeah!"

I've been bot farming since 2009, botting on RS since 2002. I am currently making much more than I could with a minimum wage job. My income has ranged from $20-$300 a day bot farming over the years. (I have a normal job too, it's just a side thing.)

Regarding the 'amount' of bots, the only stable one that'll run 24/7 (SIMBA) only allows 1-7 bots for almost all computers, unless you have a 2700k at like 12-14 names, or a 3930k at around 18-24.

If you do something simple without randoms that can run 24/7 (a lot of diff methods.. - regardless of saturation) and say you ran 5 names, that's an easy $10-$20 a day, doing absolutely nothing. You may need to check them, but with the current state of things, you really don't have to do anything. This can fund groceries, beer, drugs, whatever you want. If you feel like taking it a step up, then you can make a lot more. It's a business that will not die anytime soon, and if RS died, then there is WoW and various other MMO's.

Because RAM is not the main factor, CPU is.

It would never be a few bucks a month even with ONE name, if I currently ran one name I'd make $80-$115 profit a month off it. A $400 computer build will run 5-7 names, a $140 VPS a month will run about 5-20 depending on CPU, not including setup fees.

The managing aspect is null, there is almost no managing depending on method, and preparing names would take at most 2 weeks for FDK and 1 day for most others.

P.S. There has NEVER been a period in RS where bots were NOT AROUND. The amount of bans received in classic were ridiculous though, and the bot nuke never touched simba. Not to mention private reflection & injection clients were released within the first month or two at $600-$5,000 price tags.

Here's my tip to aspiring gold farmers, do not stress checking on your scripts. Prioritize it once or twice a day, or setup TV on your phone to see if they're working. You can easily run 24/7 with SMART Manager and non-random methods; transfer weekly. I do have to admit though, it was a lot harder bot farming when I was banned weekly, I haven't received a single ban since mid 2011 though.

Yeah i agree with the comments, but i have a little setup of 10 bots on my comp that make me roughly10-20m a days, it takes no time and mojority of the time i can leave them run smoothly with no problems, so just for curiosity, 10mx7=70m, so thats 70m a week for doing nothing on my behalf. I can build a bulk and earn a little something at the end of the month for nothing or i can use it myself on rs to pk with. It's a win win if you look at it in my sence but it's not on that industrial level, so im happy.

    Honestly,I think scripting bots for people is much more profitable, Im 99% done with my GDK bot, it makes a steady 400k,but I have people jumping to pay me a 100m a copy. I can sell 10-15 copies within a day, that is 1b-1.5b, or roughly 450-700$ in 2 week of scripting maybe an hour a day. On top of that, I can sell as many copies as I want and still not touch the insane amount of Chinese goldfarmers. In truth, I rather script and make 600$ a day selling(;
