Re-inventing Name Sales

Do not support, your going to have a ton of people that wont be able to distinguish between rare and not rare, and its just going to cause a lot of problems. If they post and say its rare and you dont think it is, then just leave it alone. Obviously if you posted on the thread your interested in the name and it has some form of value to you, if not then just leave it alone.

 

Would still like to get this implemented.
Haven't really been at Name Sales recently but the problem is most likely still there.

I am trying to sell 2 names which because of people posting names like "aslfjs Look a 6 letter name!" and stuff like that.. it pushes my thread back to second page in a matter on minutes really.. then on the "off-hours" of sythe no one views it anyways..

My opinion has changed. At first, i did not support this, but what mmoexchange said is absolutely right. I support for the rs name sales to be a little more stricter on what names people can sell or not.

 

Support, if you've ever tried to sell names you'd know how frustrating it is when you get people posting up names like 'My Ko', which clogs up the Name Sales forum as most sales like this never get a single reply.

You cant really blame people for posting up undesirable names as there arent specific tiers to the Name Sales section, like 'Other Names' and 'Rare Names' as you mentioned.

 

Extreme support, tired of seeing people sell "LolKoedUGf" and then the thread title is: "Selling Rare Name - 500B".

 

ppl have different ideas, like my rs name fishsticks1574 is worth about $2000 since its a special username but i guess i support a bigger section for names, and i can be the moderator for this section thanks very much

 

Lol... names are worth whatever the People are willing to pay. And I don't there would need to be another moderator for a separate names section; market mods would handle it.

 

1. I strong agree with number one. What and what isn't a rare name totally comes down to the buyer. I might personally think Sydney2000 is rare, because my uncle participated in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, when someone else just sees it as a random Australian city with a bunch of numbers on the end.
2. I agree with this, whether it be a subsection or something else, they need to be separated.

4. I don't agree with a discussions forum, considering it is a Market Forum, therefore discussion on rare names goes into the 'Market Discussion' subforum. I do agree with a Names Sales and a Names Giveaway subsections though.

 

I support the idea for a certain standard, don't really like seeing threads of names getting bumped for weeks that have no progress because of the standard of the names.

 

Totally agree with this here. Now I only bump my thread so people can see I'm selling names and they have to PM me to get them.

 

I support you man. It's a great idea to introduce a sub-rare-names forum where people can DISCUSS RARE NAMES, who has which, what got released, what you got, inactive ETC. It would be awesome, i made a thread like that but it died down pretty quickly.

And I agree with the crap names you mentioned, don't really like seeing threads full of random names EVERYONE can get in 50 sec. Rake_off for example just some random crap hehe. I only want to see epic 2 letters or a name like "Picture" not "Pix_R_C00l" lol

THIS ^ ALL THE FREAKING way, I'd love to chat about rare names in a specific forum here on sythe ALL DAY! Not fun talking about them in a Market Forum or General where it gets no replies. :3

Agree. Some people want to spend like 1-5M on a decent name though and that's where those sections would be for.

New moderators wouldn't really be needed. The example you mentioned with the name "fishsticks1574" isn't really right, because it only means something special for you. In general I think we can say that a rare name has to have a meaning for close to everyone. Such as "Box", "HD", "Epic" or even less rare names such as "Pancake", "Hyundai", "Thug".

Indeed, with the two new mods which are extremely active (especially Zerkerfist, props) new moderators aren't necessary at all. I think this would barely raise the moderation actions that are needed. Names are indeed worth what people are willing to pay, but you can definately get a rough estimate of what an average person would spend on a specific name.

Good points, thanks for taking your time Some names are indeed considered rare for one person while they are considered as junk names to others. You can't really blame people for thinking their name is rare or actually believing their names are rare. I think a market discussion would actually be nice as people can get information about the names they would like to own. Good point about Name Sales being a Market Forum and not a Market Discussion Forum.

I would personally also like a subforum where we will be able to discuss about specific names and get information from others. There currently is a sticky, but it's hard to scroll through all the pages to get the information you desire. As said before, I think that splitting Name Sales would also increase the activity and the number of sales. Thanks for the support

 

Maybe the staff could put a link to the Market Discussion forum in the Name Sales thread, just as a sticky.

 

no support really, i just see this as a way for you and others to get rid of the competition, and whos to say what a rare name is, as it may be rare to someone, just because a name is like " Boxer shorts" doesn't mean its not rare beacause its not 1 letter/number, or the name of some company.

if its that big of a deal, report the threads and let the mods do their jobs.


after all it is Name SALES, not " i don't think this name should be sold here its not rare enough for me, please move it elsewhere sales"

It's not really getting rid of competition. It's seperating the names from eachother. Yes, you could call it competition, but don't you agree that competition is something that should be happening? By your logic, vouches and donator ranks fall under the same category of "getting rid of competition". Under my personal logic; vouches, donator ranks and *new* name sales fall under seperating. You are seperating Names from eachother, you are seperating possibly trusted users from eachother. Obviously there is a part of competition, but that will always exist.

For the personal "attack", I haven't really been active at name sales at all, for the past few weeks. I started out at Name Sales to get some vouches and get the hang over trading, but eventually I started to spend my time at other places. In my whole Sythe career I've only sold two names that would fall under the "Rare-category". If Name Sales would get updated, it would even have a negative effect on my sales, as most people are looking for rare names, and not for decent names that I'm selling. Thus, they will spend their time in the Rare Names Section, and won't bother looking at the other subforum.

I've already talked about defining rare names. You can easily seperate the rare names from the other names.
