did i get scammed?

so i bought this really high level main, i had a little trouble with acquiring the account due to the timezone differences ect... but when we finally did the trade i forgot to ask for previous recoveries. so i played on the account for about a day then when i tried to log in the password has been changed.
what im thinking now is i got scammed, it might have to due to the fact that he asked for the payment to be a "gift" don't know if it was to avoid paypal chargebacks. but it also could be jagex noticed the ip change and reset the pass, because it prompted me to a page with previous recoveries, maybe to prove im the owner. please leave any thoughts, i would really appreciate it.

yeah you have a greater chance of charging back on Paypal, IF you were indeed scammed. btw, who was it that scammed you and did you file a scam report?

 

at this point i thinking its a scam im going through with the paypal chargeback i sent him several emails. i can't possibly think of any reason why we would change the password.

 

Woah dude $500 for an account is pretty insane.
When you play with that kind of money with using an OMM or PA you can easily get burned.
I dont know what to tell you other than don't do it next time.

yah don't know why i bothered buying a runescape account when i read somewhere that most get recovered but i tried the guy looked reputable, we chatted everything went smooth he went first. then all of a sudden i try to log in and the pass changed and the email unregistered. i definitely learned my lesson. p.s. i filled the claim already on paypal, there's no going back now.

 

Who was this "guy"? And maybe it was a misunderstanding? Try to contact him via pm or msn and ask whats the dealio.

 

Accounts will get locked if you change pass after sudden change of country, though if it says the account is locked when you try to log in then the guy doesn't have to do anything with it, but if it says invalid pass, then definitely he scammed you.

 

Call up your bank that funds your paypal and rage. no joke. say you didn't receive the items you were meant to etc. and ask for your money back. goodluck man.

 

dude NEVER buy a account from somone unless they have ATLEAST over 100 vouches or they donated over $50.. I bought an account once from a fairly trusted person but got scammed everyons in it for the money..

 

I don't know if you're allowed to chargeback the money. Otherwise, you could be banned for scamming.

Create a Scam Report thread with all the adequate proof needed. Ask the moderators their if you're allowed to try and get your money back.
