Need Xbox Live Help!

Ok, so I've always been connecting to xbox live through my laptop all the time(for 3 years now). I just connect the ethernet cable in the laptop and the xbox and bam it's done. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. The xbox's problem for that says that it cannot find my static ip or something like that? I also try'd to re-bridge the two connections but it says "you must select at least two LAN or High-speed Internet connections that are not being used by Internet Connection Sharing. Can anyone help please?

 

I don't know much about this topic but I was thinking is there a problem with the cable you are using, you did say it is 3 years old so it could be that. Sorry I couldn't help much as Xbox isn't my strong topic, hope you get it working soon.
