Gold4fun scammed me out of $240 USD

Okay, I sold them my account, which they paid for in 4 payments. They then lied to Paypal in order to chargeback the money they sent me, without contacting me.

2 months went by, I then see this in my paypal inbox:


Not only is this amount for much higher than the value of the trade ($340!), it is without any email communication, or explanation.

It's worth noting that I was contacted a few weeks ago when the new owner lost control of the account, and Gold4fun asked me to recover the acc for them. I obliged, and sent them the details, it all went smoothly. I presume this is what happened this time.

Presumably they assume I somehow scammed them, but it's unreasonable to not contact me, and attempt to resolve the situation.

I tried to contact them via the live chat, resulting in the operator disconnecting from me, and then blocking my IP address from accessing the chat. I reconnected on another PC, she asked for my username, I gave it, and she immediately disconnected + blocked me again.

Finally, on Paypal, they flat out lied about an apparent chat taking place where I apparently admitted to taking the account back. Even if I did take the account back for whatever reason, why would I tell them in their chat? It's just ridiculous:



TL;DR:
Gold4fun sold my acc to someone, he managed to get hacked, they then took the money back from me without any communication. They also lied to paypal, and blocked me from contacting them.

 

well, payments can only be chargedback 45 days after it so your argument is already wrong saying it was 2 months ago.... kind of dampens the credibility of your statement there

 

Nope. They do it in 4 payments, 1 per week.

I sold it to them over 2 months ago, but the last payment was within the last 45 days presumably.

Since all of the transactions are linked, presumably chargebacking one caused the rest to receive the same treatment.

Furthermore, on their site it states they are having "some issues with Paypal again", so I'm not sure what that means.

Edit: Also, I know the username is showing, it honestly doesn't matter.

Edit edit: Now I'm waiting on Paypal to (hopefully) cancel the chargebacks (I doubt they will though, why believe a consumer over a company?), and Gold4fun to respond to my email explaining the situation.

Yeah, I contacted them explaining the situation, showing the printscreen of them blocking me.

But they've got this obviously rehearsed sob story, and they're a company, whereas I'm just a random guy, so I highly doubt they'll cancel the chargeback.

Mate you can get them in real trouble for this its called 'Stealing' and 'theft' because you sold them what they needed and they paid you in 4 payments and now they are lying to PayPal and also trying to get there $ back you should contact PayPal right away.

 

Agree with Dre, if you contact PayPal about it and show them proper evidence, you will surely win the dispute.

Also I've learnt from past experiences with Gold4Fun all you have to do is state in your dispute "The Paypal Buyers Protection does not cover sales made for virtual items, it is evident that this payment was made for a virtual item, so this dispute should undoubtably be approved towards the seller".

Yeah, I contacted paypal immediately, but like I said, their statement to Paypal is clearly pre-prepared, so I guess they've used it for other accountss successfully.

James, I didn't recover the acc, and they most definitely are giving me problems.

 

Was it your account to start with, or did you buy it and sell to them. It could be the owner of the account trying to recover it without you knowing.

 

My account. Trained to max since early '06 to mid '11, only me that's ever been in control of it, before I sold it.

That's why I don't use any of these goldbuying/accounts sites
Sorry about your loss, if you can show PP proof that you didn't recover the account you should be able to start making some progress.
