People wanting to change their skin colour??!

I think it is so strange how white people want to be darker and black people want to be lighter. Does that mean there is some perfect middle ground...beyonce/rhianna/J-lo? Or is it just because of the proliferation of celebrities in the media with "golden skin"?

 

I guess the media has some sort of role in this but it is just up to people if they want to change or not, I don't see any problem in it as it is their lifes and they can do what they want with it.

 

I believe it's the influence of media. Many music videos are filled with tan or "golden" colored girls which have grown on many of us to become attractive. The people who are not comfortable in their own skin desire change.

 

I'd say olive, Beyonce-esque, skin is perfect.

I think it is a matter of different races or colours of people having a sort of good impression on the other race/colour and vice versa. As you say, it looks like many people do want to be the latter colour and change over, possibly for the reasons of respect and friendship.

I don't think "white" people want to be "black" and so on. They just want a nice tan, darker than their skin colour.

Well, I'm pakistani and well I was born with very dark brown skin. I practically looked Bengali.

Over the years i've used skin bleaching products that lighten your skin.
The first picture is from 5 years ago and the second a week ago.
Despite the brightness my skin colour has changed alot.
(The first picture was taken in summer with the sun shining)



As for why I done it. I didn't like my skin that dark and my sisters were a lot lighter than me

 

I only wanna change my hair's colour. Changing Skin colour is way too far for me.

you cant just say white people wanna be darker and black people wanna be lighter... thats really not true.. cuz im black but im lightskin... and some black people are already brownskin... and some black people are dark and wouldent like to be lighter... it all depends on if your comfortable with yourself.

People worship perfect bodies and they all desire to have them too.

 

I thought for a minute this was a thread about people wishing they were other races which just disgusts me people should have pride in their skin color and or race. I really wish tanning wasnt so predominant, i like pale girls and honestly every shade in between.. people are starting to all look alike and i hate it. People need to be more comfortable in their skins, if your white keep it that way if your brown black or yellow .. keep it that way. People striving to change their skin tones is just sad. Diversity is what keeps life interesting
