Chaotic Rapier vs. Chaotic Longsword vs. Chaotic Maul

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I've personally had a cmaul and it was by far my favorite chaotic weapon for pking. I could go on a kill streak easily with one.

You also have to take note that a lot of armor have significantly less crush defense bonus than slash. Especially Torva. When a CLS is paired with a dragon defender, its slash bonus still cannot be compared to a chaotic maul. Then there's when you go for the kill, venge and cmaul can deal great damage when used together. Accuracy + Higher damage potential.

I agree, very good point. However, unlike someone posted, the CLS is not useless, great for bossing, best one for bossing.

 

Indeed. CLS has his ups as well, but the boss it's really only good for would be Bandos. Correct me if I'm wrong. And these days Bandos is worthless. However it is also good for some slayer tasks. I'd use it for revs as well, it has high accuracy especially when paired with a dragon defender, but I'm more on the fence if I'd use Maul or CLS for revs.

Only bosses really worthwhile would be Nex and Corp. Neither requires a CLS.

 

Haha, you make some good points which gets my thinking cap on. Most RS players go Bandos anyway because noobs can go and a lot of clans go for fun. Plus, it would be useful for soloing bosses for those who want to try getting lucky with drops.

 

I'd definitely say that if you'd solo a boss, specifically Bandos, a CLS is a must and by far the best. Not only is it weak to slash, but you can wield a shield that increases your range def by quite a bit.

The one thing that holds me back from soloing Bandos before was I didn't have a CLS. Rapier wasn't enough for me.

It also is good in some PVP situations. I'd go with a CLS over a rapier, paired with a nice shield. Higher accuracy only means you hit more often. Using a maul, you get less defense. I'm specifically talking about Clan Wars and Duel Arena, one where food/healing isn't used much. The problem is CLS isn't the best KO weapon, nor is it the fastest chaotic. When in the wilderness, there are a few people where a CLS would come in handy over a rapier. But most of the time, players having the equivalent def bonuses of rune, a rapier triumphs over the CLS DPT wise and it gives the opponents less time to eat.

 

I was planning on getting cls untill I read its bad for pvp. I still think it looks cool but is it anygood at soul wars?

 

For soul wars, a rapier or a chaotic maul would be best. Chaotic longsword is only really best for bossing but then again, I use it for PvP and it works pretty good.

 

You realize you play a minor role in Soul Wars. If I were you, I wouldn't be using a chaotic there.

Chaotic weapons degrades not based on how many hits you do. But on both the hits you take and do. It doesn't sound right where if you get hit in a multicombat area by 10 people, it would degrade faster. But Jagex made it to do so.

Use a whip or another sort of weapon that does not degrade.

If you do PVP then its a toss up between Maul and Rapier, but dont waste chaotics on mini-games because of the degrading and all that crap.

 

Rapier makes sh*t go down.

You should never pick the cls until you have all other chaotics, unless ALL you do is bandos, no other pvm. And it's not like the rapier is way worse that the cls, it'll only make the kill last like 5 seconds longer at most.

 

Not really, rapier sucks for bossing, if anything the c maul is best overall because it's a great pking weapon, better than rapier and bossing and rapier is better for slaying, that's it.

 

Rapier is actually pretty decent, not better but almost as good as CLS for Bandos. I've used Rapier for Bandos and I'll say it's pretty effective, I have a rapier and I'm closing in to 200k tokens, I won't be getting a CLS or maul for a while.

A friend of mine has pretty high dung, with quite a few chaotics. Maul is overall the worst, unless you pk a lot. Maul can't be compared to a CLS or a rapier in a PVM situation. The guy in my CC made me realize when he said "I'm never buying a Cmaul". Everyone wondered why, he just said it sucks for everything. We told him it's good for pking, he said he doesn't PK. So if you don't pk/PVP, or don't pk much, it's not really worth getting a CMaul as there are other items that gets the job done when going for the kill. Cmaul is more of a basic easy weapon for pkers, a weapon that can deal 600 damage, and is a good combo with vengeance.

In safe PvP, the maul would get owned because you can use Divine + Rapier. It's CLS vs Rapier there.

 

I think chaotic maul is the best because it hits the highest and can hit through pretty much any armor.
