RuneScape Question (possible email hack?)

Hello fellow Sythe members,
Yea, So I got a few emails from runeScape I believe?? I do not have a RS account, nor have I ever owned a RS account. I only know what it is from here. (I've seen people taking about it, selling RS gold, ect, ect.) Anyways, so just recived the email that I 'got an offence on RS' for real world trading?? I don't have an account, and nobody in my family has one either. Does this mean somebody has hacked my email,(which was created by me, I've told nobody my password) or could it be a mistake?? I've been trying to figure this one out, I DO NOT want somebody on my MSN. I have no idea if this email is a mistake from the rs company or if somebody is using my mns?? And, if they are does it mean they have access to my MSN?? This is the MSN I use on Sythe, should I change it?? I do want some filthy scammer on my msn ruining my honest reputation on here. Just trying to figure this out.. I know nothing about RS/ IDK if i even put this on the right thread. (Sorry if I messed up on that) Yea... So, if anybody knows what this means/how to fix it, I'd appreciate it.

It just looks like a phishing email to me, although I wasn't aware that @Runescape.com had been nicked by a phisher. A dead giveaway is the date where it says 'Copyright 1999-2011' I'm pretty sure Jagex changed it to 2012 on Janurary the 1st in all their emails. I think it's just possible someone got hold of your email address and started sending spam/phishing to it, it's very common. The best thing to do is just move them to junk or delete them.

Alright, no problem. Make sure you never click on any links in phishing emails either as some may contain viruses. If I ever get any emails about my account status or something similar I will just go to Runscape.com in my browser and log in there to see anything. Jagex only message you about account issues via your in-game mailbox anyway.

 

Phishing mails for sure, I got exactly the same ones.

Just listen to laptop, never click the links ! Jagex/RuneScape will never email you (unless you're changing the email associated to your RS account).

just ignore it, jagex will send you a message ingame

 

Anyone can use it in an email. They just have to use an email spoofer or more commonly known as a email spammer. If you right click the email there should be check originating IP or something like that, please post that here.

 

also for any links like this just put ur mouse curser over the website link in the bottom left corner ull see where the link leads to it wont be www.runescape.com but will be like www.runscape.com

 

phisher 100 percent i go 1 also lol, for the fun of it i typed bad stuff in the username and password boxes :$

 

Yea, I got one of those too. It had a fake ass rs login form. I was able to tell cause of the URL in my URL box. They accused me of botting. LOL. I do bot though.
