Make spamming infractions do more.

Okay, so spamming infractions do stuff and get temp banned or w.e

But how about every like 10 spamming infractions you lose 200 post count?

Hear me out here. Some people spam like 1k posts and it's pure spam bull shit and only get infracted for lets say 8 of them and gets a temp ban, then it expires and they get another 1k post count by spamming. How about every X amount of spamming infractions X amount of post count and removed.

No support. Some people can get negative post count, and that would just be stupid.

It's there for the UT under your name, for fun really.

But it's not there for anything significant, such as "Oh he has 1000 PC! He must be so trusted even with his 3 vouches worth nothing!".

Spamming infractions already do enough, if you accrue 5 of them you receive a temporary ban.

That is pointless, and our current system of elevated punishment works fine.

 

I really don't think there's a need, I'm not sure anyone here has 1k post count from spamming only, and they would most definitely be infracted/temp banned if they did spam around a lot. It's fine as it is, no support.

 

I think that certain infractions should be worth more than one point.
For example, I would put heavy flaming between 1 and 5 points depending on severity and location. (Personal Support, "Faces of Sythe", etc. shouldn't be tolerated at all)

 

I've personally issued bans for flaming on Personal Support, it's not something that is taken lightly. And, on the Faces of Sythe thread, it states "anyone who defaces someone else's picture (draws on it, photoshops, etc.) and posts it without the user's full consent will be punished with a one week ban (this applies for this thread as well as everywhere else on the forum), when commenting/posting, please remain respectful towards others at all times; do not spam, flame, or negatively impact a user's confidence." I think it's fine, if it's taken to another "level" then the staff can appropriately give the desired consequence, and if not just regularly infract them.

 

Thanks for the insight Wulfspade. I based my example on an post I saw from the Faces of Sythe which bothered me. I assumed he had only received an infraction but the user is in fact (permed) banned now though for whichever reason.

 

It makes absolutely no sense to have that. Post count is the number of posts you have, not the number of posts you have - 20 posts per infraction...

 

No support. I think losing post count is an extreme measure, and should not be enforced.

 

Why fix something that isn't broken?

 

You would not believe the threads where they say:

"NOT GOING FIRST UNLESS 600+ POSTS OR 100+ VOUCHES"

I see em every 5 threads pretty much.. so yes they do matter..

OP: I support I think this would reduce spam a noticeable amount.

 

We won't be reducing post count for infractions. However, I do find quite a lot of joy in finding and deleting spam posts from people so that they lose post count. The entire infraction system has been made so that it works. It has been field tested and as we see issues arise we change it slightly so that people stop doing what they shouldn't be doing. When I joined the forums, you got three infractions and then a 2 week ban (or a month - I can't remember). Flaming was also worth two points. It has been dramatically reduced because banning people constantly does not help the forum as a whole. We'd rather a bit more rule breaking than someone getting banned for a massive amount of time over basically nothing. That's why its so much harder to get banned now a days.

Also: I ban people right away for being dicks in the Personal Support forum or telling people to kill themselves or anything else that warrants harsh punishment. Spamming really doesn't though. Its just annoying and off topic, not hurtful.
