    Atheists - I ask you...

Not wanting to take over VenomXI's thread I've created an new, but similar thread with a couple of questions of my own for Atheists.

    As a Christian I've always wondered;

What does being an Atheist mean to you? (What your definition of an Atheist)
Why do you chose to be Atheist? As in, why don't you believe in a higher being? (aka 'God' or Gods).

Remember - Everyone is entitled to their opinion/thoughts/morals. Don't get into an argument about whether or not 'God' exists. And please don't reply with mindless spamming. This is meant to be intelligent.

Because there is no empirical evidence to support the existence of a God. Furthermore, the characteristics that God possesses are typically self-contradictory.

The bible constantly contradicts itself. Along with many other things. This is usually the main reason within disbelief...

I myself am agnostic... However I support the views that Atheists have

There is no proof that "God" made the universe so I just stay neutral and just take each day as it goes.

Read the god damn thread before posting.

Atheists dosen't believe in god because they can't find something to prove them that there is god. It's very hard to prove that, and must of them dosen't even want to listen to you when it comes to if there is or not a god.

Speaking for myself, some atheists are fascinated as to what theists have to say about their reasons for believing in the existence of a deity.

Being an atheist means nothing more to me than being white. It's simply a fact of life that shouldn't matter to anyone.

I don't think I "chose" to be an atheist. I simply don't believe in the bible/God. If that means I'm an atheist...

    Atheists - I ask you...

I think atheists are scared, Im by no means a Bible thumper. But I sure as shit know that their is something out their...I dont see how athiests can claim we came from nothing...Its just not logical .

I believe in a higher power...I dont neccecarily believe in the bible..Only because it was written by man...and we all know the lies and corruption man is capable of. I dont think our creator would judge on this...He/She/It afterall gave us the ability to reckonize these things...Along with the ability to act on them aswell.

...to Sum it up, I think they are scared to come to terms that their is shit that they just dont know or understand.

    Atheists - I ask you...

I used to be one. Only because everything I was hearing about these religions did not make sense. But after I had an experience I realized what it was. Now I practice Hinduism/Buddhism because it's the only one that gives us the credit we as humans deserve, and doesn't limit our thinking.

    Atheists - I ask you...

I'm not an atheist. I'm also not a theist. But I do like to challenge people to prove their own stupidity.

To put it simply I do believe that someone or something created all that is in existence. That something could be the big bang or someone could be ''God'' but guess what not a single soul on earth will ever know.

When I go to the skatepark and try to land a trick that I have been working on for 3 weeks and I finally land it it's because I work hard. I've seen other kids ''Pray to God'' that they land this backflip and then they land it. God didn't make you land that backflip , working hard , practicing, and pushing yourself to the limit did. If ANY credit is due anywhere The Foampit receives it all not ''God''

    Picture for the lulz. Enjoy.

I don't classify myself as an athiest, I just accept the fact that I don't know what happens after death, or if there is a god. I need proof, evidence. If there is no evidence that there is a god, then as far as we know, there isn't one. To answer your question, an atheist is someone who does not believe in a diety, the opposite of a theist.

Atheist is simply the lack of belief in theism so you either you believe in theism or you don't unless you claim agnosticism on the grounds it is unknowable which it seems like you have done but I'm just not sure.

A person who doesn't believe in a higher being/doesn't think they exist.
I am an atheist because simply it's the only logical and rational option.
I would love to believe that there is a God that punishes 'bad' people and rewards 'good' people; but believing in something just doesn't make it real.

Then where did your god come from, was it nothing, or was he made by a god and if so, where did he come from?

To me, I can not make a choice until I have evidence for either. If that evidence doesn't come out before I die then oh well. You can also make the same if not an even better argument for religious people being scared.

I do not really see myself as an athiest because I do not reject the concept that there is a possibility of a god. I just find it highly unlikely.

I choose to have this mindset because there are too many questions religion doesn't answer and often hold penalties for asking these questions.

    Atheists - I ask you...

I've been studying philosophy pretty hard here recently and I have come to the conclusion that some times there doesn't need to be direct empirical evidence for things. Religious people have faith, and that helps them. Non-theists have reason, and that helps them. There shouldn't be a distinction made between the two, because in the end we are all people.

It is kind of like political distinction. People think of politics as a line and you land left or right of moderate, but it is a circle. At some point you become so far left you share a lot of politics with extreme right and vice versa. Some people hate theism so much that they become just as pig headed as theists. Theists hate 'Godless Heathens' so much that they become just as ignorant as those who hate religion. Either way you're exuding ignorance because you are too stubborn to connect with someone on a human level.

    tl;dr: Live and let live.

there is evidence that the matter(protons, neutrons, electrons) that makes up you, have always existed from the beginning of time. In other-words we a made of star-stuff. one day the sun will run out of energy and explode, and all of our planets will collapse into the sun. This is science, not religious bs. We are only part of a cycle of the stars, we are star children in search of a meaning in this complicated world that we evolved into

    dont you realise...
all other planets in the galaxies, solar systems, are made of matter and energy from the big bang... not god or gods. something set off the big bang and wasn't a godly being

It's also funny how we have iron in our blood and the Earth has a molten IRON core. We are literally stars. We have our own gravitational pull that we can manipulate

Being an atheist, I just don't believe that there is one or more all powerful "gods". I don't believe in destiny, I don't even believe that one can control your life completely either. There are billions of factors that can occur in your life that not even a "god" can control or change. If there was a higher being that created the world, then it is a cycle that has to end. The worlds were created to adapt, to thrive, and then die. I don't think that a god that loved his children, would allow them to die while he lives. I apologize if this offends anyone but as it is, it's only my opinion.
