Need legal advise on pirating

I have been a pirate for many years now and I got a call yesterday from the gov saying to stop or i will face jail or fines. This itself does not bother me I knew it would happen one day, it was just a warning. My pirating days are over now but there are a few problems. I am running a pirated version of windows 7'( forgot to turn off the seeding fuck me in the ass). My parents want me to remove this and all other pirated software from my computer.obviously this is anproblem because I would have to back up my stuff and this would be a hassle. Not to mention they wan me to buy a legit version to replace it. so this is my question, is it safe for me to keep using the copy I have? can I face legal trouble just for using it? will this get me caught? Also I often use a free website to watch online movies, is this illegal? I know selling, hosting, and distributing and downloading it are illegAl, but what about just watching online?

If you're serious about purchasing Win7, I would go out and get a copy then keep the one you currently have. I'm fairly certain that's legal.

 

Yeah, something about

"You are allowed to make one (1) backup copy of any electronic software you have" or something like that, as long as you own the license to use (by buying a legit copy) you can download whatever you want.

I guess thats why on those N64 Rom sites they say "you are only authorized to download this file if you own a physical copy of the game" etc..

 

I had a phone call for the same thing mine was an automated message i don't know if yours was or not but it did not scare me because obviously it was automated so i just disregarded it and i still pirate today

 

Well my mom picked up the phone and I was told about it afterwards I think it was a person. They caught me downloading silent hill 3 (the 1 time i download from a non trusted source) aparently they also caught me seeding win 7 and they basically gave me a warning and said to uninstall all that stuff (which i have). I am slightly worried about continuing to use this copy of win 7 but i kinda doubt i could get in trouble for continuing use of it, seeing as i have already downloaded it and as far as i know the download is how they catch you/
