So I have 71 smithing and I am looking to get 85+ smithing and I was wondering if there was a faster way than cballs that also makes money. Right now I am smelting iron and coal into steel bars and then the bars into cballs. I am only getting about 10k exp/h and I am making decent money at it. Is there any other methods out there that can make money and get decent exp/h?

Don't think so, make sure you get some smithing xp from minigames to.

You can superheat high level bars for decent exp and profit, but I think that's the only way. Use a Coal bag to speed up the xp significantly.

Agreeing with Kero, Superheating and Cballs are basically the only ways to train smith while getting a profit that I know of.

Not sure if this is profitable, but you could always superheat or smelt gold bars with goldsmithing gauntlets. Its not super fast, but its pretty decent exp per hour. I went from 50-70 doing that in like a matter of hours if I remember correctly.

Depending on what prices are, maybe you could smith certain items, like steel plates or mithril armour items, and then alch or sell on the GE? It all depends on how much bars cost, whether or not you want to buy the bars or buy the ore & smelt yourself, and what the prices of the completed item are and whether they sell for that price on the GE.

I've decided to superheat mith bars at 65 - 75 gp profit per bar.

Super heating mithril bars with a coal bag is profitable and a good 50k smithing exp per hour. I did mithril arrow heads from 80 - 99 smithing and lost 35m. Super heating will make you money though.

well, I used to train mining and smithing at the same time.. I'd mine all the ores and then superheat them into bars. I could take them to the bank if I wanted to, but I usually just dropped them. Free xp and cash if you keep them all.

I know that 50-99smithing with gold bars only cost 20m so i imagine ur 71-85+ would cost 5M

^ This, if you got the mining level for LRC. But you'll lose a small amount even if you bank because of the cost of nature runes.

But really, one of the most efficient way to do smithing would be smelting gold ore with smithing gauntlets. It would take you roughly 40 hours.

I hate people like you, the ones that give extremely inaccurate and outdated costs. Funny how you even say "I know".

Gold ore is currently at 359 each. Gold bar is at 116. 359-116 = 243 loss per bar made. You get 56 exp per bar. 243/56 = Around 4GP per exp. So it would cost more like 10M for 71-85.

50-99 smithing was never 20M through gold ore. It was more like 30M, and this was before december. Thanks for the outdated post, I'm sure the OP would appreciate it.
