Information so far:


1. It might not be called PlayStation 4
Early word is that the next-generation PlayStation will be called the "Orbis."


2. The visuals will blow your mind
The Orbis will reportedly support 3D games and a maximum screen resolution of 4096 x 2160, which is far above the current standard for high-definition televisions.



3. It won't support old games
Remember how the PlayStation 3 was shamelessly incompatible with PS2 games, asks Plunkett. The same applies here: Sources say the Orbis "won't even bother, and that Sony has no plans to offer backwards compatibility for its existing catalog of PS3 games."


4. Orbis could kill the used-games market
Orbis games will reportedly be available either for download or purchase (in Blu Ray format). And these games, reports Plunkett, will be locked into a single account per user, which means that if a friend loaned you a game, you wouldn't be able to access the whole game, just a restricted version.

 

NO WAY. i will never support the future generation of consoles which has been said to remove the used-games market as you have mentioned. this will make it impossible to even play a game u just got at your friends house, etc. it is ridiculous destruction of the gaming world powered by greed

 

No, it is ridiculous trying to destroy the used game market, it is a sad day when that happens honestly. Also the PS3 wasn't as good as the 360, so I am guessing what ever Microsoft has in store for us will be better. Sony has really gone down hill.

I Perfer Playstation more then xbox, and I've had all playstation versions and will def buy playstation 4.

I'm not much of a console gamer...but when I do play them, I like to buy used games for cheap..

 

The info released about consoles before they come out is rarely accurate, besides my pc will always be better.

I have to agree the biggest dissapointment is the used game thing. This also puts Gamestop and stores alike out of business...

 

No, I won't. Last game system I bought was my 360, and I only played it for a month when I first got it, never since. I'm not planning on buying any new game systems again. I just stick to playing n64, game boy, ps1, ps2, gamecube, nes, and snes games. Although I do like to play computer games from the 90s - early 2000s (nothing really later than 02).

I just don't get the same enjoyment from current video games that I did with previous ones.

 

Doubtfully, recently bought my xbox and I don't support the sony market anyways.

I don't see a point to owning a gaming console really, its controls are always so terrible compared to PC, their hardware is always comparable to a 2 year old computer, and you occupy a (or the only) TV while you play. Also any decent game will still come out on the computer anyways with few exceptions.

 

the new xbox will be doing the same thing to prevent used games sales. So ill be getting the orbis.
