Daily aspirin 'can stop cancers'

The BBC reporters were interviewing Prof Rothwell (MB ChB MD PhD FRCP FMedSci) and some of the things that he said was the way that aspirin works to help reduce the spread of cancers is by Inhibiting sticky platelets in the blood, that help cancer cells spread through the blood stream.

*He claims that you can reduce the spread of cancer by up to 50% by the use of aspirin.
I would like to hear your input on this.

It can also help keep heart problems under control.

It still needs to be used with extreme moderation, as it can cause internal bleeding.

 

Well, it seems legit to me. Just follow what the doctors have to say. It'll be the best way.

 

I personally am against the Pharmaceutical industry in the United States
I don't take aspirin, and not willing to take it on the behalf of this study.
There are deaths from aspirin every year

 

This isn't about the industry, it is about usefulness of asprin.


Asprin is a great medical tool when used correctly, but if used incorrectly it is potentially fatal. Just as long as it is taken as a doctor prescribes then it should be fine.

 

A daily spliff apparently helps fight cancer too.. interesting..

 

Maybe it's true but I see this as bullshit

 

i have also read articles about this and it sounded pretty legitimate....assuming the aspirin doesnt cause stomach bleeding first

 

So many stories about how to reduce getting cancer, that guy is probably paid a lot by the aspirin producers

 

tbh i dont like taking aspirin or anyother painkiller, i prefer natural remedies, anyway.. i wouldnt take it everyday even it it did help fight cancer.

 

Well, I'm no expert but I don't think It's true. If this was true or had sufficient proof, wouldn't they advise people to take it?

 

Aspirin is one of the worst painkillers anyways. Lost of side effects, relatively poisonous etc. It may stop cancer, but not any more than chemo will. It's the same concept - If you kill everything you will get the bad guys too.
