    $320 computer?

Hello. I was wondering, what sort of computer can you build for $320? I already have a monitor.

    $320 computer?

    Not a good one.

No case is included with this and the hard drive is a piece of shit. At least it should run though, and it has a one year warranty on the hard drive. With an upgrade for the hard drive I guess it wouldn't be too bad..

    Total is $321 shipping included

edit: With this processor you can maybe unlock the 4th core of the processor allowing it to run slightly faster. It's not guaranteed for every processor though. Most reviews said they were able to unlock a stable 4th core so maybe you'll get lucky.

^ that build doesn't have a PSU either, but it's good if you could splurge for a $50 PSU.

    I'd personally go with this

Although it's using IGFX, should be more than enough for scaping. Total is $278.. so it should come up to <320 before shipping and taxes

HOWEVER, I'd recommend that you swap out the PSU ASAP, especially if you decide to get a graphics card, overclock or add anything to the build. DO NOT STRESS THE CPU FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.

    Anyways, goodluck

    $320 computer?

I've heard it twice now, that it's not enough money to build a good one. What are your thoughts on refurbished parts? Thankyou by the way :)

Refurbished parts? No problem with them, just make sure they've been tested and have atleast a simple 30 day return policy from wherever you're buying.

$320 is enough money if you play it smart, but don't expect any kind of gaming other than RS on low-mid settings.

The build Fish posted is actually pretty good, you just need a PSU which will push it over $312...And it has no case. And the hard drive is old + slow.

The one I posted is alright, but as I said, no graphics card and the PSU isn't the best thing around.

Ok, thankyou. I was just intrigued at what price you can build a computer for a similar budget to that.

    $320 computer?

Ah, I knew I was forgetting something.

You could downgrade the GPU and probably get a crappy PSU for my build. The GPU was a $100 card, so you can probably find something around the same stats for lower.

It can probably run a good bit of the games out, just not ultra high end games like Crysis 2. Most will probably just have to be on low settings though. I mean, it's not really a bad processor and the GPU I posted earlier will probably be good for most games. Even if you do downgrade the GPU like I said earlier you can probably find close to the same thing for less.

Also, the 8gb of RAM should be more than enough.

    $320 computer?

This would be a realistic full build,

You can drop the CD drive and get an a75 mobo instead at $75. You can also get another 4gb stick for $20 in the future. That's an APU (GPU+CPU) - you'll handle most decent games with that.

If you spend an extra $50 you can get a 750-1.5tb hdd.. If you spend an extra 50 on the case and PSU you could get much better quality ones. Regarding the CPU, if you could spend say ~$120 range on one, plus $100 on a GPU, that'd be a nice build too. But within a ~$320 range that build would work out fine.

(might need to buy thermal paste & an extra case fan, few $)

EDIT: My bad, remove that heatsink from the list and switch the mobos with this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157260

Either the first or second row. A combination of the two would suffice as well.

    $320 computer?

It turns out you can build a fully functioning computer for $320.

That is a point, spending x amount now, and having to spend alot more in a short time.

Like I said before, you can build a computer for $320, but the problem I can see now is the one HEHEGGG pointed out. The fact that it will be out dated in a relatively short time. Thankyou for all answers :)

    $320 computer?

It would be outdated in like 2 years.. That build would run WoW max and skyrim mid-max.

2 years is a long time. I would mainly be running things like RuneScape, MSN, Sythe. (Not all at the same time)

RuneScape is actually pretty low requirements give the size of the game.

You should be able to do all at the same time lol. I have over 60 chrome tabs open, MSN, Skype, AIM, utorrent, Dota 2 (playing a game), and I'm running 7 simba bots (rs instances). All of this on an i7 860 (2.8ghz quad core 8 threads) which isn't that amazing of a cpu. You could build something better for like $400-600 in total.
