Can guys and girls just be friends?

This isn't a something for all thread.

 

I'd like for this to be an intellectual discussion between members. I've been hearing mixed thoughts in the past few days and I want to see what the sythe community thinks.

 

Definitely. It depends on the girl though. If she's a tomboy then obviously you'll get along with her like you would your guy mates. I've been friends with a lot of these in the past.

As for the other type of girly chick, I think it is definitely possible and I see it all the time. It would be hard to ignore the tension at times, but it really just depends on the individuals.

 

Many of my closest friends are actually girls. (I have a few guy friends, but they go out and drink a bunch so I tend to stay-away).

I don't personally see a problem with it. And we're just friends, I could not see myself going out with any of them (except maybe one of them ), and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't date me either.

 

If the girl is good looking and attractive, can you be just friends with her without wanting anything? I'm not saying that guys can't be friends with girls, many guys do it, but they don't act on their inner wants and desires.

Is it possible for a guy to be friends with an attractive girl without wanting more than just a pure platonic friendship?

 

Yeah. A lot of my friends are girls, and some are stunning but I enjoy their company ;p

I think any guy who says they wouldn't fuck the girls they want to be friends with is a liar. Girls on the other hand are ignorant of men's intentions and think they can just be friends. Girls argue that they can be just friends with a guy because when they're in relationships, their men don't want them to hang out with guys because men know other men's intentions. They want to be friends with other men (just like men want to be friends with other girls) while they're in a relationship and use the "just friends" play to get their boyfriends to be okay with it, even though everyone with common sense knows what everyone's true intentions are.. I couldn't tell you how many girls I know who fucked their "just friends."

 

When your in uni, yes. But all the guy and girl friend ship I've know are either:
1: One is better looking than the other.
2: They are both very active, so maybe ocassional booty call and temporary dating or even FWB.
3: One is single the other is in a relationship.
4: Both is in a relationship.
5: Have no interest in each other what so ever.
6: They dated before and didn't work (Friendship lvl 99 in real life).
7: Long time/child hood friend.


Yeah, looks like if you have a single boy and girl who are decent looking by each other standards and are often loney, then it would definitely be hard to for them to keep the friendship.

 

A lot of my friends are guys, and I see most of them strictly as friends. I don't see why the idea of guys and girls being just friends is so far fetched to some people.

 

To answer this question, ask yourself if you would hang out with a really fat ugly chick because of her personality. Sexual appeal cannot apply here. Me? Nah, I don't think so.

I actually have more girls as friends then I do guys, nothing wrong with it. Just hanging out and whatever is fun, doesn't always mean your sleeping with each other.

 

Yeah, girls and guys can be just friends. Maybe it isn't satisfying the intentions of both of them, but you can be just friends, hence the man's arch enemy, the friend zone. :L

 

Most of y'all seem to assume that I'm talking about sexual relationships between the friends. I'm asking if it's possible to be friends with an attractive girl without wanting to have sex with her.

I have a fair amount of good friends of mine that are girls and we have no sexual tension between us.
