Should Marijuana be Legal?

Your arguing it should be illegal because of these effects?

With that reasoning couldn't we therefore argue Runescape should be made illegal? I'm sure it's happened that people are addicted to Runescape and their life "loses luster" all they do is look forward to playing the game, they neglect their family and friends. Steal money to buy RSGP.

I don't really think your abuse of a substance should be reasoning for it to be illegal, for every negative effect you have listed their others have listed positive effects.

Alcohol is in the exact same vein, people can abuse it and subsequently it ruins their life, why isn't that illegal you must ask yourself everyday?

 

You cant present your own personal experience as a fact. Its not proven to happen to everyone, it is simply itself. Just because you reacted badly to use it doesnt mean its weeds fault. You made it a priority in your life and thats why you did all those things. It didnt do that to you, you did it yourself and placed the blame on your motive.

Weed is only as big as you make it and if youre not able to handle it then dont do it. But dont say its weeds fault you stole from your parents. It has effects but the effects are in the smokers hands to judge whether they are bad or not.

 

It's legal where i live haha! Never heard of any deaths or so because of it.
So i guess it should be legalized there as well.

You can't argue for it's legality using your subjective experiences. It's true that a lot of people feel the way you do, but that's a sign that they should wise up and realize they need stop smoking, not that marijuana should be illegal. With the reasons you provided, Sharpies should be illegal too. Even without marijuana, the people who are truly desperate for a high will always find a way to get one, whether it be through asphyxiation, or whip-its, etc.

I think you mean an irresponsible stoner. Kinda sounds like an oxymoron to be a "responsible stoner", but it's not impossible. I love getting baked on a regular basis, but my grades all A's, I've never stolen money from anyone, I have much optimism for the future, and I never choose toking over spending time with my family, and I certainly don't lose my appetite if I don't smoke.
Sure I get downed sometimes, but that's normal. I never let it get the best of me.

 

Personally, I think it should stay illegal. Basically due to the fact that it's a drug, and very harmful. Making it legal would be cray-zee.

It's legal here in The Netherlands and on a friday/saturday night I see loads of people randomly walking in the city with a joint lol. It's pretty normal. I don't the risks of smoking marijuana is high either, but it is a drug. I'm not sure if it should be legal in the US, atleast it is here in The Netherlands and I haven't seen/heard of anyone getting serious problems after smoking weed.

EDIT: On the other hand, one of my best friends used to smoke weed atleast once per day for around 6 months straight and this seriously resulted into him having concentration problems, losing friends, neglecting school, dropping down from school at the end. Right now he is a class lower then he could have been and the main reason is smoking weed and all the other things around that. Each person is different though.

But everyone has (or should have) common sense, and if they don't realize that they're abusing the drug and it's starting to hurt them, then any negative consequences they suffer will be their own fault, not the drug's.

 

All of this I ignored because I don't think it should be illegal. I simply mentioned the negative effects it very well can have on people.

I'm not blaming weed directly - it's definitely an indirect motive as to why I did those things though. Like I said, in moderation it's fine - but some people cannot control themselves, and that's when the negative effects of overuse kick in - hard.

In no way in my post did I advocate that it should be illegal. Did you see the post I was replying to? In the U.S 8 states are up for election for legalizing it and Mass. is one (you know i'm voting) but whoever thinks weed should stay illegal is a fool lol. I smoke , but I don't use it because I'm depressed and everything else, I smoke because it relaxes me and it helps me concentrate. Weed is not a gateway drug, I've done my experimenting with other substances and I really can't say I'd rather go do some coke over smoke some weed; I love smoking weed. Also, one poll taken (not sure what it was) but 47% of americans think marijuana should be legalized, and I think it was like 12% were undecided, so pretty much more people support it. America has dumb-ass politics that think weed kills, and if someone wants to say "Cancer" i'll reply and say "edibles and vapes" - completely fine for your lungs. and Negative side-effects from weed? More and more studies have been coming around and there really isn't anything negative, maybe just a little short term memory lost but fuck it YOLO!

 

Yes, I feel as if I should be legal.

As a avid smoker for majority of my life I have found no side effects to myself and I am for the most part the same person as I was when I started. The "drug" is not addictive and will not have any long lasting affect on you. Seeing how cigs are already legal why shouldn't weed be? It is better for you than cigs will ever be.

 

^ you can't compare cigs to weed, i will never understand that comparison; just because you "smoke" something don't mean it should be illegal but for alcohol on the other hand, that's debatable because it does something to you.

well i only smoke atm because i work until summer where i start to school agian so no need to wake up tottaly yet. but still it's an awesome thing.. and in no fucking freaking way a drug. it's plant. it hasnt been in any lab.

Effects? - you get lazy and relaxed... thats it. ( dont say you get fuck't up. you dont. you just get paranoia. and that only happends if you smoke very rarely.)
i would rather see my son with a joint in his hand. instead of drinking 20 bears before he is happy about the weekend.
and lets face it. we are alot ALOT who smokes weed and we dont give a shit about the goverment and they have realised that a long time ago.. so why the fuck dont they help their kids and get that weed away from the real drugs!

what i mean is
when i have a weekend with the boys where we drink i'm drinking about what calculated to 20-30 beers friday and saturday ( only calculated in beer. but i mean with all the vodka and all that it would prob be arround that ammount of beer)


well and if i'm with my best friend chilling one weekend we might smoke 10 joints insteads and some hits from the bong. and for kids who only smokes rarely 1-2 joints should do the trick. and i rather see him doing that

This is only proof that your experience with something will not be everyone's experience with the same thing.

Although there are many common points between your situation and mine, I have to point out a couple of differences. For one, depression led me to weed, not the other way around. Life doesn't have any luster, high or not, but it's much easier to keep your mind of that while high. Stealing money, I've done it too.

Extreme paranoia/anxiety: It's hard to be anxious when you don't care about anything, for the most part.

Social awkwardness/abilities: I've actually earned some kind of a reputation because people found out I smoked weed and this year has been the most social yet and I have weed to thank for that.

Sleeping/eating habits: Although I do occasionally have trouble falling asleep, I don't need to be high to achieve that. As for eating, it actually feels satisfying when you have the munchies. Otherwise, food is simple sustenance and I'd rather starve instead of eating something I don't like.

Memory: If I could forget more, I would definitely like that.

I don't drink. Not only can I not stand the taste of beer (which leaves hard liquor), but I've had bad experiences with drunk family members. Plus, drinking makes you do stupid things you'll regret whereas weed leaves me in a familiar and comfortable state of mind. I'm not going to have sex with my straight best friend or anything while high, but have while drunk.

 

I don't think it should be legal as people will smoke it way too often and cause damage to themselves. A lot of people can't control themselves so I think legalizing it would be stupid.

 

All thee kids on here voting for yes because they think it's cool, but seriously it should not be legal..fucks up your mind
