Best Free Forums?

Where can I make the best free forum? Is it possible for other members that register to get my IP on said forum if I am admin?

if your looking to purchase a guide on making forums successful and stuff, but if you want some free forum software my favs are

MyBB which im currently running on my forum, its updated regularly and has a lot of good plugins (http://community.mybb.com/) and only mods+ will be able to see your IP unless you set regular users to be able to see IP's which probably isn't a good idea

 

Its not so much I want to make a "successful" forum, I just need a good looking forum. I also wouldn't mind paying a one time fee, but I wouldn't want to pay a recurring fee to keep the forum up. Does that lead me to any better options?

well you can get vBulletin which is what sythe runs or IPboard which PB runs

IPB: $150 1 time fee ( i believe)
Vbull: $200 1 Time Fee and that lets you use the current version of which your upto, say you bought it at 4.5 it lets you use all updates for a year, say 4.7 but after that year you will have to renew if you wish to use 4.8 but you can also use the lower versions on it if you want

i also believe dialatic or whatever his name is, is selling a forum in the software sales section for about 50m

 

Actually I think i'll just look into "MyBB" it looks like a decent forum and its free. Is making a forum there hard with no past experience?

 

Its not really that hard, you can follow a youtube guide on it, but you will also have to pay hosting fees and domain registering fees and so on which ends up @ about $20 or so, but once its installed it takes about 5 mins to setup , i have a basic knowledge of it so if you want help i think you have my msn: [email protected] or skype: stuithebest if you want help now though can you add my skype as msn is buggy on my laptop
