    Opinions post bot nuke?

I've not played Runescape legit for a long time, not because I don't want to but more because I simply don't have time, and therefore before the bot nuke I heavily depended on bots to gain me levels and cash.

Basically, I've not played Runescape since pre nuke, it was very apparent how badly botting was effecting the market, and more importantly the Runescape community and the game.

I was sitting wondering today, does anyone who played legit before/after the bot nuke think it's actually improved the game? Obviously aside from the aspect of the game being more rewarding because raw prices have increased, but Jagex spoke of how the bots had ruined the game and that is where my query lies.

So my question is, do you think Runescape is slowly dying? Regardless of the botting scene? Or do you think we are yet to see the best days of Runescape? A new Runescape, where the development team can focus more on content, as opposed to fighting bots?

Any opinions are welcome, I'd like to know what the wider community thinks, both botters and non botters.

I apologize if there's a thread similar to this, if so could a mod delete/lock it. Thanks.

Honestly I think bots drive the Runescape economy in general.

    114,943 people currently online

When I used to play RS when it was released (I used to play classic too since RS2 wasnt there yet that time) there were maybe 30k people or so.

Then a year or 2 later, there were 100k + - depending on time of day, same as now.

From that day to current, no idea, but it seems damn good to me.

About botting, if it's good or bad.
Everyone hates some aspect of the game, and when you get rid of the problem by botting, it's kinda good thing. More fun.

But when it's over-used it's kinda bad thing.

I'd say the way it is now, is quite good. Jagex is fighting them and theyre fighting back. Neither wins in long run but I'm happy.

True, they have a huge effect on all resources, bringing a large amount into the market.

So you are a legitimate player? Have your ever used bots before?

I think Jagex have been pretty effective in their update, look at the widescale botting previous to the update, and now. Any bots which run in number are not publicly available and most of the ones everyone can use are either poorly scripted or on inadequate clients.

There is more people online since the bot nuke to be honest, the botting community upped the prices of everything heavily, but people are getting used to the new prices.

Would love to see bots gone again. The game improved so much after the first nuke.

If you value your time more than playing rs the answer isn't to bot rs, the answer is to not play rs.

The first time I have played legit in years was post bot nuke and I can honestly say i'm not a massive fan. Being somebody who has and always will play Runescape only for the PvP & PvM sides of the game I have for as long as I can remember used bots.

Honestly, I hope that bots DO come back. It's all good that raw prices are going up etc; which has obvious effects on some of the loots I get/sell BUT I have never been a skiller.

Also, with the release of more clients and scripts post-nuke I have been attempting to set-up my own Gold-Farming operation, with already 15+ accounts leveled high enough to start (although I know this is a low figure, i'm simply taking my time, i'm in no hurry to decide upon which client to use) as soon as I decide upon a Bot with scripts that are actually capable of running 24hr+ at a time.

Honestly, post nuke, I have seen a great decline in the game. Many of my 'old school' friends that I have played with for years and years are quitting, leaving for another game. Atleast half of said players were also botters, but a good half were legitimant players. With the bot nuke I have seen a great increase in the price of Raw Products, which is all well and good for people who understand how to make money on this game, or I would say the majority of Sythe users, but for your average player, how is he or she expected to stay interested in a game they start where it takes 80 hours of grinding for a weapon.

I don't think there will be much left to come from Jagex regarding Runescape that will keep me interested in the game. Not only this but I also STRONGLY dislike the majority of the Runescape community. It doesn't feel the same anymore, years ago people would go out of there way to help you with anything they could. Now people are too interested in there XP/HR or $$/HR.

Either way, bots have and always will be a part of my Runescape gaming, although I do not bot my own account anymore as i've had that many permanently banned over the years, there will always be something that I can profit from the use of bots. Not only is gold-farming profitable, but it is specifically what Jagex is trying to stop. And honestly? I care nothing for Jagex (as i'm sure many people don't), although used to years ago. Now I will literally go out of my way just to spite them for ruining the game I came to love throughout my Primary school/High school and even post schooling years.

I strongly support the use, development and updating of Bot clients, this is just my personal opinion, not a stab at anybody or anything.

I honestly find it fascinating how people changed their minds. Now people who goldfarmed are actively cheering on Jagex for removing bots just so that they can get their profits. I do agree that it was getting ridiculous, but I find that really funny.

I've thought the nuke was good, but at the same time my juvenile hatred of authority has made me still laugh in the face of Jagex. And yes, I have botted. I botted 1-99 RC on my main, got that reset (just the RC), and then botted it to 80 again just because.

Subsequently why I no longer "play" Runescape :p I simply just make some extra money on the side from it. I don't see it as a game anymore.

This seems to be what most 'Old-school' players are doing/feeling from who I have had discussions with.

Kind of. With the re-introduction of the wildy, items such as D claws will slowly continue to drop in value. This is because the demand is not increasing, whereas the supply is. It is not lost on death + more from PvM

Yeah, I think it's impossible for Jagex to replicate how great the game was before the nuke, although I don't think it was entirely to do with the actual game itself. The community back then was great, and so much different from how it is now. I think that's the main change for people like myself.

The community now is almost non existant.

I'm all for bots removal, since I used to play legitimately.
Post nuke the worlds did feel more empty, but the fact everyone was human and actually spoke to you made the game feel more alive, despite the drop in numbers of players logged in.

Though RS's popularity has dropped (used to be 200k+ I remember online) it's still a fairly fun game in some aspects, though I don't miss it.

I wish that they could eliminate all the gains gotten by people botting, i'd like to see what kind of stats most people would have if nobody had ever botted.

That's just my personal opinion, in my eye's the community back then was much better than it is now, but as I stated that's just my point of view.

Feel free to express the merits of both now and previous communities and we can have a proper discussion about it maybe?

I use to bot, and botting made the game so easy for me I got bored of actually playing. Botting ruins the game, no doubt.

As far as the game dying, well it clearly isn't. The game is continuing to grow.

Nowadays I really don't care anymore what the situation is, my opinion on this game has changed a lot during these years. As said before, the good, golden times are long gone and I doubt there is a chance to retrieve them. It's kind of depressing to think that people use an online game to run business, but money seems to be the only thing that matters in the world and that's completely whole new story.

But in short, I just don't mind about bots, I play when I got nothing else to do and that's it. Obviously it would be a positive thing to see bots gone again, both in Jagex's and players' perspective.

My knowledge might be limited, but even color bots are becoming sophisticated now (simba) nd i dont think theres any way Jagex can screw over color bots(atleast i hope not)

Injection bots are pretty easy to screw up though.

    Tl;dr stick to Simba
