When will it be legal...

so just because people smoke weed, means they do it just to feel cool? Yeah you have a point you could have saved alot of money but who cares, if your spending your money on something you enjoy, great. Lifes short, live it like you want to.

I love how you use "Just because someone famous smokes weed doesn't mean you should.." yeah we get that in school all the time about smoking cigs. and drinking, ROFL. I did lol when i read that.....but i'm pretty sure there are more people that smoke than you really think do.

 

I didn't mean you when I said people do it to look cool and copy famous people, I was talking about the guy I quoted because he made it seem that way.

Your right about life being short, and you should be able to live it how you want. And you might think this is funny but I'll be the one laughing when I'm 80 and I think back to this thread, knowing that you probably died while you were in your 50's or younger from lung cancer or something similar.

 

Depending on were you live, I live in canada It will never become "Legal" but it will be getting decrinalized in the coming months. This means that it is still a crim to have a grow up but if you are caught handeling/selling weed it will not be a crime.

So your saying that smoking marijuana will give me lung cancer before im 50? I'de like you to find proof of that I highly doubt your going to find many cases at all of anyone that ONLY smoked marijuana, and obtained lung cancer especially before there 50.

In my whole life i've never smoked a whole cig. myself. And i've only drank once in my life. sooo..... i dont see how i'm going to get cancer from that. I NEVER smoke or drink anymore ;P

I personally don't smoke marijuana anymore, but if i lived somewhere i'de grow it for a dispensary out of pure enjoyment for the herb, and the fun of growing it myself.

 

This thread isn't, "should I start to smoke weed?" - but rather, "Should it be legal?"

Its scientifically proven, cigarettes are more harmful for you than smoking dope. Therefore, it only makes sense to compare the two, and come upon the conclusion that there's no real reason for it to be illegal.

 

I honestly don't know but I'm guessing that it will be legalized in the near future. When the public want something legalized, they would go to great lengths to get what they want. Same thing happened with beer back in the 90s.
The government is probably going to legalize it but their going to put a strict age restriction on it.

I'm not sure if marijuana will ever be legalized, but it should. You hear all these erratic stories about "legal marijuana" being sold in gas stations and how outrageous the effects are. If the government wants a positive outcome with money dealing with marijuana, they should make the illegal stuff legal. I believe that within a few decades, if marijuana was legal, the US could get rid of a lot of their debt, or all of it. I'm not sure that that was what you were looking for in a valid argument ...but, there you go. That's just my opinion.

 

You have a good arguement, the only problem would be taxing it so they could make money for it, because people can just grow it and sell it themselvs and the only people getting taxed are the ones doing it thrue a store and doing it the right way and they shoudn't have to pay taxes for selling it the "Proper" way i guess you could say. So they would have to think of something to be able to tax most of it. But i do agree they could get rid of alot of debt with marijuana

 

There'd be a real issue with taxes and people still growing it themselves. But it would be an astonishing advancement if it were to happen and work. >_<

 

The thing is though, that "legal marijuana" is not marijuana whatsoever.... It's crazy that the legal stuff, "Game over", "k2", etc is legal. The effects of this stuff are proven much worse than actual marijuana...

 

heres a better response than all of the other scientific responses(not that i dont agree with them completely)...if i wanna smoke some weed, im gonna smoke some weed. its my life, its what i wanna do, and the government has no right to tell me not to do something that in all honesty isnt even bad.

on another note, its is truly easier for me to get a gram than it is for me to get any alchohol or tabacco. its relatively easy to get tabacco, but weed is the easiest. the reason for that is that its not currently regulated to be sold to ANYONE, and drug dealers dont give a shit how old you are, unlike a liquor store selling beer. if they really wanted use to go down, i feel like they should legalize, regulate, and tax the shit out of it. just my opinion though

It seems like it is right on the brink of happening, but I think it might take a little bit longer than you would expect. Legalizing or even decriminalizing marijuana is quite a big step for the governments in both Canada & the United States to take, and so I think the issue will be debated a lot further until the governments actually decide to take the steps towards making it a reality.

I do agree that it is pretty much only a matter of time before it happens though. The benefits that it would have on the levels of crime associated with gang control of large quantities of marijuana & the amount of money the government could make by regulating it and taxing it, is just too much to be ignored. Eventually everybody will be on the same page in agreeing that legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana would actually benefit everybody.

 

I do agree with you..It would be a huge step for them to take as if hemp was mas produced it would make paper, rope, plastic and other things go outof business because they have said many times that hemp paper and rope or whatever, is cheeper or better, i forget why but it was good.

To me legalizing marijuana would be alot like moonshine, you can make it yourself legally, and be taxed on it and sell it in stores, or...you can do it yourself without legal documents, and if you get cought, your punished by the law. People would much rather get taxed for growing weed and being able to sell it to customers (medicinal or not idk) than want to grow it w/o and risk going to jail. (I would assume that most people would rather not go to jail for obvious reasons)
