    Benchmarks for those two:

For Runescape, it really does not matter. I have a slightly older i7 that falls like 10 below the i5 on that chart and it runs pretty much anything just fine.

I have the 2600k and it runs really great. But as Suf said, it doesn't really matter for runescape, I would go with the i5 unless you have the money to spend.

I have a newer i7 with double quad core, and in all honest it's absolute overkill. The computer itself was like 800 dollars total though so whatever. If you're buying bit by bit, i5 is a better choice. If there's a good deal as far as i7 in a relatively cheap bundle, go with i7 just to say you have it I suppose. I can probably run ANY game for the next 5 years until they come out with 16 core processors and the 10th WoW expansion requires it

    double quad core? wut?

If you're botting, you'll benefit from the HT and extra cores(not that its what the performance is based on). For gaming, neither of them really make a difference. i5 for gaming, i7 for botting, in your situation, imo.. Unless it's over budget, then an i5 would be fine..

If you're botting get the best processor you can, if you spend an extra $100+ you can make that back in a week if you can get say 5 more names going.

2600k won't give you anywhere near 5 extra bots versus the 2500k lol

OP, 2500k will be more than enough, but if you have an extra $100 for the 2600k, go for it.

I can help you build a good computer for botting for about ~$360 and it can handle (at least) more than an i5 could. With the money you'd spend on an Intel botting computer, you can buy two AMD ones.

I wasn't referring to the 2600k. But on that note, it'll run about 3-4 more.

He's talking about the 8120 which would actually run more or roughly the same as the 2500k..

    8120 AMD setup
    processor - $189.99 Motherboard - $50 RAM - $38 - 8gb Case - $30 - mid tower SSD - $40 - 16GB PSU - $20-25 - 575W (comes with onboard gpu, sound, & cooling)

That's roughly 370-375 range, then add on shipping, it could come out maybe 390 or so. This would be purely for botting, you can make it more of a main computer by adding on an HDD (1tb $100) a $60 range PSU for about 700W if you're going to get a graphics card. You don't need a graphics card besides the onboard really for botting currently.

And say you pay like $480 instead of around $390, you could get the 8150, a better(unnecessary for botting) motherboard, and faster ram(unnecessary too). It would maybe make a 1 bot difference.

And that's basically no different than a cheap 2500k build. Sure, you may benefit slightly with botting because of the 8 cores and such, but the 2500k still beats the shit out of even the 8150 on most benchmarks. Yeah, there's more cores on the AMD, but the superior architecture of the 2500k practically makes that irrelevant.

    Made my day.

OT, Yeah if you HAVE the money to spend, splurge for the i7, I personally just bought a 2600k for my PC I built, but i5 I had before with my prev build, overall they both work great.

But like I said, if you have it.

YOUR BUILD IS BADDD, the motherboard and case will be outdated in just a few month, and your power supply is bad, never go cheap on a power supply or you might risk your entire system destroyed due to a cheap power supply, this is the computer builder rule number 1. The i5 2500k is much faster than the 8120, even though the 8120 have more performance per dollar.

It's not my build.. it's a build entirely for botting. The 8120 outperforms the 2500k in that field, and there are plenty of cheap and reliable PSU's for $50 range. The mobo is for the basics. And I for one don't recommend those exact pieces, just the price range essentially. AM3+ Mobo with 2 ram slots for 8gb 1600, onboard, 8channel sound, & 'decent' is $50 range.

Regarding the Case.. That really doesn't matter, but a better case would be - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147144 - for example.

So get a shit cpu that can run bots but not games or get a nice cpu, for the same cost basically, that can do everything (probably not even a bot or two less than the AMD proc)... Which seems more resaonable..?

Yeah but would you know? It depends on what type of i5 and i7, obviously..

Very true.. I completely neglected to notice that he had a $20 PSU.. I wonder if he even read the reviews because almost everyone gave it less than 3 eggs or said it broke.. Also, the 8120 only has more performance per dollar because it's cheaper.. A lawnmower has more performance per dollar than a lamborghini, doesn't mean it's the best thing to get around on..
