Can someone recommend what parts to get to build a computer? Like which cpu/etc..
Whole thing inc case, and please under $1,000 USD. (Please try to make it as cheap as possible)

I'll mostly be playing RS, MineCraft, and possibly might play a few other games such as CoD 4, MW2, MW3, etc...
    Mostly RS and Minecraft though.

Alright, tell me what I still need. Recommend a case + anything else.
This all totaled to around $712 without a case or monitor. (Not sure which case to pick)
Total for it all, including case(My second link), monitor, and shipping totaled to be $999.89.

    So far:

It looks alright and should run good if youre only doing runescape minecrafty and skype. But alienware has computers made just for gaming, theyre good but pricy. It depends on what you like overall. But that one should be fine.

What's your budget? Does this budget include shipping and will you need it put together or can you do that? It'd be much better if I find parts for you to buy depending on your needs and budget than a prebuilt.

After you buy the parts you can have a local store put it together for like $20-50.

Well, first, know that it's used.
It will work fine for Runescape and Minecraft. You may want to buy a dedicated GPU though..

I also haven't had very good look with Gateway computers. You could build your own pc for a better value, but for the price and purpose it's not really a big deal.

    It says there's 2 replies by there's 3. 0.0

OT: I have like $1,200 atm, but I would only want to spend like <$700 just incase I need it for later. I was looking at that computer because it's really cheap for the things it has, though it is refurbished.
Also, I don't know how to build a computer, so I'd probably have to get it assembled by another person.

i5, 8 or 16gb ram(try to get the good stuff, like 1600mhz+), ssd or HD (<500gb is fine), cheapy video card is fine, I have a 6770 in my old botting pc. cost around $80 but performs well even on things like Crysis2. That sorta stuff.

    Corsair obsidian 650d
    i5 2500k
    Cooler master hyper 212 plus
    Asrock extreme4 gen3 p67 motherboard
Corsair vengeance 8gb 2x4 1600mhz (you can't use more then this, 16gb of ram is a total waste, and it'll also slow down your cpu because is occupying all the slots)
    Msi 550 ti cyclone 2
    Corsair professional gold 650watt
Corsair force 3 80gb (OS drive)
    Western Digital Cavier blue 500gb
and just add a random blue ray reader if you want to,

This should be just right some where below 1000 dollars, this is the best setup you can with that much money, no matter who you ask, the build should be similar like this.

invest big in a computer now, don't spend $800 and regret it and have to pay $1600 for a quality comp = $2400 compared to an initial $1400

Only thing I don't get are Corsair force 3 80 gb (where to find it)
Also, can't you downgrade some things like the video card, power supplies, case, maybe something else. Without the corsair force 3 thing, my total came to a little over $1,000.
I dged the video card, I'm thinking of a different case, and idk about the power supplies (trying to pick another cheaper one)
I'm not trying to spend the full $1,000. I still need to get a moniter.

EDIT: Also edited the post with my build atm!

I don't have time to say much right now, but get 2550k over 2500k, it's like the same price on newegg atm.

    Fixed.

So yeah basically abit over 1k, cpu will run stable at good temps @ 4ghz if you know how to o/c, 560ti should smash all games out fine, some good advice HEHEGGG but others were really bad/stupid.

Edit: just read you have 1k and still need a monitor! drop the SSD, GPU can come back down to the 550Ti since you're only playing them games i suppose, drop to the 2400, don't need K cause you don't need to o/c, go with Antec Three Hundred and your budget should fit.

Good luck with your build OP

Which one is the ssd and what are the ssd's needed for? I'm guessing the corsair force 3 80gb was the ssd, but not sure what it's for.

Also, what would be the difference with that cash, and this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 ?

And, I don't really think I need too good of graphics, so would this work?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161386

    and for power supply:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152043

With the video card and power supply, I could upgrade to i5 2550K and still be paying around $40 less than your build.

I'd honestly look into an Asus. You can make them just as good as a 2k alienware for $1000 cheaper, the only difference is they keyboard doesn't light up. This is honestly a good buy and I regret getting my alienware over a topped out Asus

alternative to the 300, better cooling and reduced price.

    MUCH better monitor.

I'd recommend one of these two HDD's, the baracuda is quite good and like $90 atm.

Your PSU and Ram are fine.

Regarding the motherboard you picked, it's okay I guess.

Tell me your left over for a GPU and I'll take a look.

For the hdd, I'd only need like 500 GB. Probably even less, but I don't want a 1 TB one.

    So idk between:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148701
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236080
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769

With the first hdd, I'd be at like $932. So around $60-$70 left for a better gpu depending on shipping cost.

i suggest buying a used hdd because you can save money, i bought mine used off amazon and it works fine.I also got my gpu used for 50 bucks off amazon and i have no problems with it so far. You really dont need to buy a cpu cooler the stock will be fine unless you plan on overclocking which you won't need to do.

spent $450( 420 if i had not have bought my cpu fan that i am not using) on my rig not including monitor(110)

DON'T GET THE i5-2550K!!! Even though you gain 100mhz, you lose quick sync and virtue, you can gain that 100mhz with overclocking with i5 2500k, don't get anything cost more then the i5 2500k for your build.
For the monitor I personally like a bit smaller monitors, they cost much less and for gaming it will require less power because is running at 1600x1080
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009256

For cases I still recommend corsair obsidian 650d or the haf 932 advance, the corsair obsidian have dust filters and have more steel while the haf 932 have more space and air flow while future proofing. Both also have usb 3, alot of fans and space, easy installation and high quality, I prefer corsair or cooler master the most for cases, not much for antec.
    Edit:
My build is coming in a few days ^.^
    Haf 932 advance
    asrock extreme4 gen3
    Cooler Master 1000watt gold
    Evga gtx 580 sc
    i5 2500k with noctua nhd14 heatsink
    Corsair vengeance 8gb 1600mhz
    Corsair gt 180gb ssd
    CAN'T WAIT

hehe, that's literally $20 difference on the monitor I linked which provides 4 more inches.. and 1920x1080, that monitor is overpriced for what it is. 1920 vs 1600 has ZERO lag, that's a very uninformed assumption. The only 'lag' you would receive is on a low end system and low end gpu which doesn't support 1920, and honestly that'd be like the old 6000 series nvidias.. there is no net lag, nor any sound lag for resolution.

The most he would need for a PSU is 700W-900W, entirely dependent on GPU at that point, would probably be like 300 range without. You're exceeding his price limit with that and the GPU probably.

Regarding quick sync and virtue, unless he's doing video editing and has a second monitor.. pointless. The 2550k without the IGP allows for higher clocking, if he wanted that for example. So for gaming and I'd pick the 2550k, but it seems the newegg deal on it has ended.

You should switch back to the 2500k, you can get it for like $205 atm
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072&Tpk=2500k

I'm not sure what your cart will be around now, but there are a lot of deals that end on april 4th, and constant deals all the time. Regarding a GPU, let me know exactly what you can spend after you have everything else you need ready. You can get decent GPU's for $80-275, i.e. 6870, 6970, gtx 560 ti, gtx 570, . If under $100 for example, then perhaps a 7750, 6670, or gtx 550 ti.

Here's another deal you could be interested in -- http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=7331904&sku=TSD-1500AS3

Really cheap HDD but the deal ends today, I'd buy that if I needed one, depends on shipping and tax though.

Also, there's one last thing, if you live near a microcenter then they're a lot cheaper with some crazy good deals usually.
