Will Runescape Last 11 More Years?

Easily, with all the new updates bringing in new members, it must do. The only way I can see it dying is if membership goes up to like $15-20/month

I think the game will be fine, if it continues to change there will always be new players.

 

Hard to tell. New players will keep coming along who have no idea about how much better the game used to be, or what it used to be like. Maybe Jagex will sell it to another company and it will get renamed. Like others have said, I highly doubt it will still be playable in an internet browser though.

 

It could survive maybe by putting high membership rates and will not be anymore browser based game, which will put in an expanded map and new graphics. Some like updates some dont. But always there could be returning and new members

 

Games do not die, people abandon them.
Considering most people play RuneScape is because more recent games either require a computer that they do not have or because they simply do not understand hoe other games' mechanics work.
I'd pick a more recent, difficult and more challenging game over RS.. When we're talking about 11 years from now.. well! Their future seems grim to me.

 

No. Eventually, they will have more expenses than profit, when that happens, it'll close.

 

They're going to milk the shit out of the game, but, the true fan base won't be there anymore.

It's going to be all new players in the next few years because of how different it is from 05 etc.

 

Sadly runescape is a business, if they stop making profit then the game will stop being developed.

Depend on various factors like community, profits, and namely the staff at Jagex and their capacity to keep reinventing Runescape. Without them it won't last at all.

 

Definitely not in it's current form.

 

It's changing alot - old players are being driven out and the new are being driven in. I think they'll make it, as long as more new players continue to join and subscribe.

 

Forget about RuneScape for a while, ask yourself. Will you last 11 more years? ;P

Jagex said that they would stop making updates for Runescape in 2014, this includes patches and shit. I'd give it 2-3 years after 2014 to die.

 

Is that even true...? Don't see why a company would say that.

 

The updates suck and I don't think the game has many new players. Everyone I see is a high level which makes me think the hardcore players are still around but new players aren't as common.

 

Chances are it won't, sooner or later jagex will start a new project and drop RS.

 

This, if and when they release stellar dawn and it becomes more profitable than runescape they will eventually abandon it.

 

if it continues they will probably have to turn it into a more wow styled game

sucks for that suomi guy who has dedicated his life to completing the game only for the game to never recieve any more updates
