    League of Legends Complete Guide

League of legends general guide: How to play

PLEASE NOTE: This guide has been made entirely from scratch, all images were taken from google images or screenshotted myself and the only parts ripped are those in italics. This is a guide I am re-posting from another forum boards I use to post on. This guide is 100% my creation.

This guide was also made BEFORE Dominion was released, I will release an entire Dominion guide if I get enough interest. Several of the interfaces & summoner spells have changed as well as most of the current pictures being not great quality, these will be updated with new pictures once I get home.

I will not tell you how to download this game and enter a game, I am making this guide assuming you have the brains to download a .exe, execute it and once you are logged in, click the "Play" button.

Once you have clicked play you will be faced with either "Normal game", "Arranged team", "Practice" or "Tutorial".

You can continue to play the tutorial if you wish although I never did.

After selecting "Normal game" you will be faced with an interface asking you to select your game mode, "Twisted treeline (3v3)" or "Summoner's Rift (5v5). For this example all my screenshots and information will refer to the game mode "Summoner's Rift".

After we select our game mode, we are faced with the interface asking us to select our champion:

Here you will decide what champion you wish to play as for this game, there are all sorts of champions in League of Legends, tanks, mages, fighters, assasins etc.

Following "Summoning" your champion, you will be prompted to choose your summoner spells.

Summoner spells allow you to assist your champion (or, in some cases, your teammate’s champion) in various ways. There are many spells to choose from; but choose wisely because you may only bring two of these into battle. Once you have made your selection, click the ‘Confirm Spells’ button in the bottom right.

As you level up your summoner level with experience gained by playing games, you unlock more and more summoner spells. I STRONGLY reccomend the heal spell for new players.

Following this you will select your runes:

From here you may choose which of your previously generated rune pages you feel will most benefit your chosen champion. Runes are purchased from the store with either IP or RP and give bonuses to your character such as *+10% attack speed*. You set your rune pages in your summoner profile when NOT in a game. Once you have selected your rune page, click ‘Done’ to progress to the final step in the preparation.

    __________________________________________________ _________

Once you have selected your champion, summoner spells, and rune page, you are placed into a team chat waiting room.

Once the timer runs out your LoL client will close and the game will start up, bringing you to a whole new page.

After loading, you and your teammates start out at your spawn. At your spawn you will see the shop, accessed by clicking it:

When the game first starts, each player is given 475 gold to spend, gaining additional gold throughout the game by killing creeps, heroes and gaining the several gold per 10 seconds the game generates.

On the left hand side of your screen you will see all of your ally champions, there HP and "Combat" level. The highest level you can get to in-game is 18.

And in the bottom right corner there is a mini-map where, once spread out you will see all the heroes.

Each hero has four abilities, aswell as a passive ability (One that is always active) as seen in this next screenshot:

The fourth ability is the ultimate, only available to be upgraded at level 6, then 12 and 16 I believe (correct me if I am wrong).

These abilities are either activated by clicking them or pressing their respective hotkey. From left to right the hotkeys are as follows: Q, W, E R. And for your summoner "SPELLS" previously mentioned (Heal, teleport etc) the respective hotkeys are: D and F.

Some abilities you need to press the hotkey, then select what/where you actually want to use this spell or ability.

This next screenshot shows you the actual distance you need to be within to cast the spell. Whatever you want to use your chosen ability or spell on must be within the "Circle" around your character that you see here (Although there are different types of spells such as spells to boost your stats or 'skill shots' where you actually have to aim, your attack won't automatically hit the target):

    __________________________________________________ __________

Now that we have decided our initial ability and understand how to use/cast them aswell as understand how to use the shop we need to decided what lane we will go down.

In league of legends there are three "Lanes" down which the creeps travel. In a 5 V 5 it is a common game players knowledge that 2 champions go top lane, one goes middle and two go bottom:

The small golden skulls represent jungle creeps, NPC creeps that die for gold. Some of these jungle creeps will grant you stat boosting buffs for a short amount of time if you kill them.

The small circular icons in green represent allied champions and in red enemy champions.

The purple and blue star represent the "Nexus" the building that must be destroyed to win the game (Unless of course you're versing a bunch of whingy little cunts that want to surrender), see next picture for the nexus:

The purple "helmet" looking objects represent your defensive towers. Whilst the blue objects similarly placed around the map represent the enemies defensive towers. These towers deal a great amount of damage and you want to steer well clear from these.

    *IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TOWERS*
If you are within tower range, the tower will tend to attack in this order: Creeps --> Heroes. But if you are within tower range and attack an enemy champion the tower will IMMEDIATELY switch to attacking you. Keep this in mind when attempting to destroy one.

If you manage to push past the two outer turrets in an enemy lane you will be faced by a turret and another building, this building called an "inhibitor". Once destroyed, this will grant your team the spawning of "super minions" in that respective lane. If your team destroys all inhibitors two super minions will be spawned per lane instead of one.

I'm hoping with this guide you lads can get on and win a few games hopefully see your enemies nexus destroyed:

    How to change graphics settings.

Once in the game, in the bottom right corner of your screen you will see four small buttons all in a row.

The second button from the left is your options, click this to display a small menu on your screen. Once you see this menu click "Video" and change the settings to as you can see in this screenshot:

Feedback is appreciated aswell as any improvements.

I can tell you put a lot of effort into this guide. Hopefully it gets into the hands of some new players!

I would take out things like this though:

As I said earlier, I actually made this guide a few years ago, I literally copy pasted it from another forum boards.

Took out a few things as suggested, will make a Dominion guide if I get enough interest.

Amazing beginners guide, i enjoyed reading it because it gave me nostalgia. All the images you used are from LoL back in 2010, which may actually confuse viewers of the guide because your target audience is people new to LoL, and when you show them outdated images it would screw with their mindss.

8/10 just because you used old images

Well, the guide is from a couple years back, so you can't blame that.
