Need help with investment ideas (Silver/Stocks)

Hi, is silver worth investing into because ive worked out at every month i have around 500-600 pounds lying in bank doing nothing. Id really like to invest into something which can garentee me a profit as when i finish my buisness course i want to have the money to invest in stock. My step dad has always looked down on me and i am determained to prove him wrong in the future, so any advice you guys can give me would be much apperciated. Thanks​

 

first off the bat... nothing is guaranteed! all investing has inherent risk. that's how you get returns, you're compensated (returns) for the risk (volatility of outcomes) you bear. higher the risk-> higher the possible returns. although considered 'risk free' even treasury bills have (a very small) amount of risk! to think of it another way: if something was actually guaranteed (i.e. a call option with the strike being the sun will rise tomorrow morning) with a $x profit/payoff, everyone would buy that option until it's price increased to: $x or until the profits were eroded.

on silver, i'm bearish for a variety of reasons with most metals in the short-medium term but if you ask someone else they'll be saying "buy, buy, buy" so the direction (short or long) of your investment's up to you.

Thanks bud, just kind of sorted my life out and trying to get those things ive always dreamed of. I will most likely invest in silver/gold for 5 to 6 years and hope for the best, I guess having nothing always makes you want more :L

 

KEEP SILVER. its something that goes opposite of the dollar. silvers been as high as 49$ in the last two years ago. 10 years ago it was only 3$ an oz. keep it. if you dont need the money i say keep it in the bank and forget about it for as long as you need to until you need to sell it for money.
