I use photoshop and sometimes a little bit of illustrator if needed (and fireworks for animations on logos too).

I'm impressed by the, umm, user bars? The text could be a little more centered, and the left of the boxes could have been cut off and hidden behind the icons, but they're still nice. Did you make the icons yourself?

& the composition of the business logos isn't very creative, but if the client was happy, that's all that matters

I made a couple of the icons by myself but I have to admit that the majority of them were taken of icon sites

Only the pinkhost logo was made for another company. The other 2 were made for me, by me and surprisingly I didn't bother spending much time on my own logos, as does a builder not spend much time on his own home. xD

My app site is still up online, but I'm not allowed to give the url in public :/

Overall great job. I do like the forum rank bit, user ranks? I'm really not sure what to call them. Either way, I think you should do a different icon for the Global Moderator and the Moderator ones. I suggest a silver star for the Moderator, and leaving the gold star for the Global Moderator rank. Nice work!

 

Haha, do what you have to do! They still look good. & I understand totally about not dedicating yourself to your own logos lol. My neighbor is an architect and his house looks terrible, so I gotcha xD

I hope you do well if graphic designing is the path you're taking. I have respect for people like you ^_^ no problem & good luck!

 

Keep up the really great icons and banners. You have some great ideas. Only thing I can mention is to watch your font choice, and keep away from overusing serif based fonts. You're into the android development too I see, which is awesome

I've been experimenting with some text effects in photoshop today.

I've come up with this inner-3D text effect with a slight gradient.



I've also just finished this logo as part of an IT course.



It could be greatly improved and I'd like to know how

Opinions?

 

Your logo graphics would look more presentable with a transparent background, same as your "Graphic Design by Danai". The images are also really low quality; the text edges are jagged and pixelated, and the buypo.com mod image is likewise very pixelated. I can't read the android app logo, looks like "appldat"-- which it could very well be, but if people aren't already familiar with the brand or website name, then it's difficult to know for sure.

The signature you made with the text element saying "Dan" is nice. The face is a little too dark to fit with the lighting in the signature, and it lacks depth. Lastly, I would suggest you use soft brushes for lighting instead of lens flairs. All of the points of lights have the same intensity/brightness, adding variation in that respect would add much more interest to the signature. Different shades, intensities, even shapes. Good things about it is the colors and the flowers. They were nicely implemented.

In regards to transparent backgrounds, had sythe's website been a bit lighter then I would have made the backgrounds transparent, however a lot of my work does not fit in with the dark backgrounds here at sythe.

As for everything else, I'll try to work on it as I always say

I keep meaning to work on the implementation of my text and have been trying it over the last few days.
