Update to Ban/TWC criteria (example included)

Hi all,

I feel that the ban/TWC rules and evidence need some loving. Please read the following real example which supports my point (which will be made at the end of this post).

I made this report several weeks ago:

As you can see, this unusual behaviour did not warrent a TWC.

Today, within an hour of posting up my new advert for the same account, I recieved this PM:



As can be seen, same user, very similar template, no post count change, and no mention of previously enquiring about my account from last time.

Although no scam or sketchy trade has occured, I feel that there is a need within the community to allow suspicious activity to be flagged with a TwC. In this case, on the grounds of account name harvesting.

I appriciate all feedback to my point, with my above own experience being used as an example.

That guy sounds sketchy as all get out. You are saying he is an imposter?

 

I don't understand why this would warrant a TWC at all.
He's just asking for the name of your file.

 

and with that using the info in the thread he can steal the account.....

 

He is obliviously up to no good, the log in name doesn't matter as no one can see it. Some one pmed me about the same thing, not sure if it was him but he sounded very sketchy, I told him it was just a name with some number, he didn't contact me again.

 

Yes, I agree that he looks very sketchy. We can't make a rule, though, where we punish new users based on assumptions and inquiries.

 

Simply avoid giving out your log-in information.

OT: To issue a TWC is like issuing a 'Bot Nuke' if we were to refer to RuneScape.

Only the most dedicated and trusted are still able to trade (or with regards to the example I created, bot) whilst everyone else with a TWC cannot.

You say that only the most trusted are still able to trade, with those with TwC unable to, or find it more difficult. That's the entire point of a TwC, to point out that an individual may not be the best person to trade with.

 

He sounds sketchy, but maybe he's just really interested in the login name.
When you feel someone's behaviour is suspicous, you should think twice, and take your steps carefully.
I don't support the fact to give people TwC's for such little reasons.

 

Just ask a mod to reopen the scam report(twc request) and add the new information to it..

 

I never intended to use this as a scam report to to appeal the last decision, im using it to raise awareness of an issue (suspicious behaviour) which is not covered in the TwC criteria.

 

With cases like this, it's difficult to assess whether that particular user has any kind of ulterior motive. I wouldn't especially enjoy having an account with a login name that sucks ass either.

 

There is no such thing as TWC criteria, its more of a staff discretion thing. This guy and people like him aren't crossing the line at all.
