Playerauctions + gold sellers

So recently i have been getting a few calls from unknown numbers, however ive only answered twice, and once i put the phone down a couple of seconds in as i was busy.

The caller claims to be from orange and asks if i upgraded my phone recently, which without thinking i answered.
However, the call didn't seem to quite add up as they put the phone down on my rather quickly and the number was unknown (number didn't appear) so..

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of occurance after using either PlayerAuctions or the gold seller 'nick' through his website http://thegpexchange.com/ as these are the only places that i have entered my details and phone number within the last few month. To further my worry nicks website also asks for your phone provider.

Any idea if they can do anything given the information they ask for + the upgrade thing?
Any previous similar experience?
What should i do?

So you're getting random calls asking if you've upgraded your phone?

Just ignore them/don't answer any unknown problems.


Why would people asking if you upgraded phone have anything to do with Runescape gold sites?

 

Because you have to enter your number into these sites.
Its the only places ive entered phone details into recently.

 

yeah i have been getting random texts from those ringtone services and download services after using PA

 

I tried to use that site before but they are always out of gold it says.

 

I did actually, people from england have been calling, no idea who they are and my parents are complaining at me, while I did nothing...

 

Thinking about changing my number just for a little added security - maybe buy some crappy little phone if I ever want to buy again.
Also changed my phone number on PA to eleven 0s

Not sure what to do if it's from "Nick's" website though.

 

Just call your phone company and ask them to block the number who's calling.

 

I'd either ignore it or change your number.

 

Can you do this for an unknown number? - cant see the number.

 

Nick is a Sythe Administrator. He wouldn't do that type of thing.
For the future, using Google Voice tends to be a good idea fir this kind of thing

 

You number isn't being called by The GP Exchange. It's only stored in the details section of your Paypal payment. Paypal doesn't release information. We don't release information(it's actually illegal for Paypal or The GP Exchange to do so). Paypal hasn't been hacked meaning your information is safe. The only time we'll call is at the time of a transaction and if there's a problem with your payment. No calls besides the initial transaction verification have been made.

I'm not sure what you mean, isn't google voice an android feature similar to Siri?

 

If you've put your phone number when filling out a form at the grocery store it's still extremely possible that it could be from that.

 

Exactly, anywhere could be selling information in bulk.

 

Just seems odd after only just entering it for the first time into these places. Literally no where else for months.
