ACER 5820T webcam does not work?!?

Evening all

I have an "ACER 5820T Aspire Timeline X" and the webcam is not working. It is out of warranty and I have just never tried to use it before.

The laptop has a Crystal Eye Webcam, but if I try and run the application with the same name it says Camera is not installed or camera is occupied by another user!

The webcam is not visible through the device manager at all - it just does not exist on the list.

I have re-downloaded the suyin driver about three times and this does not make any difference.

Can anyone help? I just want to use skype!! (but doe not want to restore to factory settings which was all the Acer helpdesk suggested unless I was willing to pay a fortune to send it in for repair!

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Out of interest, what operating system are you using?

 

Windows 7 - pre installed with laptop

 

Just tried the link and get a 404 - File or directory not found.

have just checked and the driver / app that i have already downloaded and tried was the Camera_Suyin_5.2.11.2_W7x64_A

 

Fail link... they don't like hot linking then.

When you find your laptop on the Acer website under support and drivers, try the other two webcam drivers, it may be them.

 

I've tried all three drivers suggested. (

 

It's definitely a driver missing otherwise device manager would see it.

It should be findable on the official Acer site under downloads, did you try all of them there or ..?
