    Really Steam?

Whenever I try to play Saints Row 3 on steam it says "Saints Row 3 has stopped working".

~Is there any other way to fixing this other then downloading Windows 7? Btw, I'm currently running Vista with 4 GB RAM and plenty of HD space.

Reinstall the game, however I would recommend you try this on Steam BEFORE you try to reinstall.

I know this is Half Life 2 and not Saints Row, but the steps are the same:

Let that run and them attempt to re-run the game, if it still fails then try reinstalling it.

Saints Row is known for bugs. I had to reinstall Windows 7 to get DX11 mode to work. If you do what Laptop said above, it always seems to find a 80mb file missing.

You could also move your steamapps folder out of the steam directory, onto your desktop, and reinstall steam. After reinstalling just drag the folder back to where it's supposed to be and it will check and see everything is there.

I followed your guide and the same result happened. I also have already tried reinstalling it.

Steam support gave me useful info once about bugs using STEAM client.

    Go to your Steam folder,

    delete everything except for
    -- steamapps (folder)
    -- steam.exe

After that, rename your steamapps folder to something like OLDsteamapps.

Run steam.exe, so that it will download all the client files again.

Log in. Log out and exit steam. Copy your OLDsteamapps folder to the new one that is created.

And then log in again to test it out.

Worked for me when I had bugs using the Store and other games.

^ Will probably work. Steam support can be useful it's just a shame they auto reply to everything.

I've done that to fix other Steam bugs. It's worth a shot. Other than that, you can try completely wiping Steam and reinstalling it but that doesn't seem to work any better than the above solution most times.... At least when I used to run into issues.

I just ended up buying Saints Row 3 for Xbox 360. Problem solved.
