"Mami Rimba (friend of Papa Mambo) has set up shop just outside Edgeville. She’s every bit as mad as Papa but has delved into some seriously dark mojo. She’s tapped into the power of the bloodwood tree, which grows only in places of bloodshed, such as the Wilderness, to craft a bolt that punishes mages. The bolts must be fired from a rune or chaotic crossbow, and they have powerful stats (125 ranged strength – with a Ranged requirement of 80). When used in PVP against those of a magical persuasion, they have additional benefits, including the ability to target specific areas of the body, with mighty special attacks, depending on whether you're aiming at the head, torso or legs!
To make these bolts, you must purchase bolt tips from Mami and head into one of the blood-soaked regions where a bloodwood tree can be found. Fletching of the bolts must be performed at the tree and will require 85 Woodcutting and 93 Fletching."

Glad to see Jagex is making steps to help even out the combat triangle with recent updates to mage (polypore, storm of armadyl, ect..) and now a new update to range. It sounds like a very cool piece of content for pvp, both in the wilderness and minigames like castleswars, so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

I'm very curious for the added bonus against mages, how exactly is it going to work and how will the "aimed" special against specific armor slots work. Would it mean that if someone is bridding and is wearing a mystic top, you could aim for that and hit them for extra damage + more accurately? Also, the requirements of 85 woodcutting and 93 fletching may discourage some pkers, but I like how they are giving more purpose to some of the less useful skills in Runescape.

All in all, sounds like a great update, although I'm a little dissapointed since I'm in the procces of making a mage tank.

    Thoughts?

I think they're untradable, which means that mostly hybrid mains with the high reqs will use them.

Glad there's some upsides to leveling up those skills.

    Should be interesting.

Yeah, which is why I love this update. Personally, if they turn out to be a viable option for pvp, I'll be looking to invest some time into getting 85 woodcutting and 93 fletching to have access to it.

That's disappointing, I was hopping these bolts would be a more exclusive update, and you would have to earn the ability to use them, giving more purpose to more useless skills like fletching. I hope in the future Jagex brings out more untradeable high level content for different skills, like they did with overloads for herblore.

In reality, besides a handful of rich skillers, who would have spent all the money to get 99 herblore if it wasn't for overloads? I think skills such as agility, smithing, fletching, woodcutting, ect.. all need updates with untrade able content, giving them a purpose to more than just a handful of skillers + people going for the max cape.

For example, if a new monster came out that dropped a rare type of leather hides (these would be trade able) and you could make them into a high level range armor (at 95 crafting), but the resulting armor would be untrade able. Which would make you need 95 crafting to have access to the new content. Hopefully we can see something like this in future updates.

This will be a very interesting update, and I am actually quite excited by it :)

I think the special functions, and the ability to aim at a specific area of the body is going to be amazing for rangers in PVP/PVM situations! Especially if you are brid fighting, you will be able to quickly aim for spec at the area of your opponent that is wearing the most vulnerable gear to ranged/stab attacks, essentially maximizing the amount of damage you deal out.

For once, a decent update from Jagex! I hope its as good as it sounds :) The only thing that sucks is the high skilling requirements to make the bolts. I would like to be able to make my own eventually, but I have a bit of a ways to go before I can do that.

I am excited about this new update, curious if these new bolts have a special attack. People are going to be tribridding rather than hybridding now
