Got hacked?

One of my accounts just got cleaned few hours ago.

Did anyone else experience anything like this?
Im pretty sure its either RareBot, (most likely) EpicBot, RuneShark or RuneDream as I didn't download anything else related to RS.
I'm also not a retard that falls for fake links or obvious youtube video's.

I have honestly no idea what happend. I didnt read the ip though, clicked play now to fast.


Either way, I recommend you changing your passwords.

 

With the serious lack of reliable botting clients, I think alot of scammers/hackers are trying to take advantage of this by setting up their clients or programs specifically for the purpose of stealing people's passwords and cleaning out their accounts.

This is just a theory, but I would advise anybody downloading these botting programs to be very cautious and diligent with their account security.

 

What got cleaned exactly? Remember Jagex are cleaning as well at the moment. Plus there's always the chance that you may have a keylogger on your computer. I would look at put those two possibility's out the window first before blaming the bots.

 

Epicbot is the most unsafe bot to use nowadays.

 

It sure is a high possibility. But still, I myself am an software developer (junior) and I'm really not someone to get keylogged, I honestly never ever run anything suspicious outside a virtual envirement.

I accuse the botting clients since they are related to runescape.

What got cleaned?
Pretty much just all items worth over 100k, I also didn't get a message on the runescape website nor get any offense added to it.

And heck, its a high possibility, right?
EpicBot had some hacks before,
RareBot is made by a person who hacked PowerBot's SVN and hacked loads of users.

 

I know it's not Simba and EpicBot cause those are the only bots I have downloaded and I have yet to be hacked.

 

The thing is that it isn't hard to get keylogged, even if you are computer literate. Do you torrent often? Do visit porn sites often? Ran java on any unfamiliar sites? All of those things can lead to extra software being loaded onto your PC.

 

Bearing in mind Jagex won't tell you at all if they have cleaned you. Regardless you do have to be careful with these new bots, you never know which ones can be secretly keyloggers/account stealers.

 

its probably from one of your twenty bots you use.

 

Why would you download all of those bots and then act surprised when you get hacked, lol.

 

I was hacked too today, and im almost sure that it has to be EpicBot... Just managed to get my account back.. Did have a Bank pin so yeahh a bank pin would safe your account!

 

You may have gotten cleaned by jagex, was your money etc set to 1?
That is generally what happens?

 

if you want to be completely safe, run a virus scan and then don't bot ever again except with simba and rid cause they are completely virus free

 

None of my items where set to 1, money pouch is 0 (believe it or not but pin is going active in 16 hours).

None of my ammo, food, etc are reset. Only the valueable items are gone.
The account also went to Lumbridge Castle, Top floor.

 

I'm pretty sure Jagex wouldn't clean him without adding an offense to the account.

 

Jagex don't tell you at all if they clean you.

 

Might of been epicbot, been a couple posts on here about them hacking.

But why do you have so many botting clients on your computer?

That's just not safe at all.

 

Damn i feel for you man, I'd stay away from all bots at the moment. The botting scene is just a complete mess.

 

I don't have to them all on my computer, I just tested those.


It surely isn't a jagex clean, they wouldn't move my account to a different location.
I did a full scan of my pc (multiple scanners) and none of them found a virus.
Also did a few rootkit checks and I myself checked all running processes (also checked for injected processes). Nothing found.

Deinstalled all versions of Java & Eclipse, all the .jars that remained where EpicBot, RareBot and runescape cache.

I'm sure nobody infected me with a virus, so either my account got actually proper hacked (password from a hacked website without the 123 at the end or something like that) or it was the bots.

Trilez told me theres a field in runescape that contains the unencrypted username and password of the person logged in. Bots like rarebot and epicbot can read those fields, so they could have retrieved my password and username without key-logging or me using the account system of the bot.

However, Im surprised that no1 else is reporting hacks and therefor its kinda pointless for me trying to blame the bots.

 

SET A BANK PIN IF YOU BOT. simple.
I can't seem to delete some of Epicbot's files- I wouldn't recommend using it, Rarebot is working steadily but I can't vouch for its legitimacy quite yet.

...then again I only bot on throw-aways so....
