Asians are famous for their emotional movies (Because of their sad ending...). They deserve an own thread because of the special effects their movies have on you.

Recently I watched ''Sad sonata'' - an epic episode movie, which contains everything a movie should have. The feeling of emptiness was enormous when the movie was toward it's ending. So, any other asian movies that deserved to be watched? If so, highlight me.

I haven't been to a video store in years, but they probably have a section for foreign films. You can also watch pretty much anything you want online. Just go to www.1channel.ch or www.movie2k.to

Some good ones that come to mind are Oldboy, Infernal Affairs, The Chaser, and I Saw the Devil.

I'm watching them online. If you want to buy the DVD I'm sure you can get it in some shops. Just google it. I don't live in the US, so I have no idea. :embar:

I recently watched 'Oldboy' (2003) for the first time, and my god, it was amazing.

The film is in Korean, but I highly suggest watching it if you already haven't.

Asian movies are absolutely amazing. I recently watched the original 'Pulse', not the crappy American remake. It's such a captivating movie.
No cheap jumpscares, but a frightening atmosphere that keeps you on the edge of your seat during the whole movie.

I've seen a selection of Asian movies and the only good ones are the horror/thriller ones in my opinion. It could just be cultural differences but any other movie really doesn't do it for me, but Asians make some of the best horror.

I cannot really remember if I watched any.

But from what my friends have said, this is true. They said that the asian version of The Grudge was way more scarier than the American remake. The american one isn't even scary tbh.

Thats a huge overgeneralization of asian cinema.... I've watched many asian tragedies as well as slapstick comedies.

Anyway.... I'd recommend a few movies. As a Chinese scholar I'm a bit biased towards chinese films.

    shower
    eat drink man woman
    to live
    house of flying daggers
    hero
    crouching tiger hidden dragon
police story (that whole series is incredibly entertaining)
    akira
    ghost in the shell
    perfect blue
    spirited away
    cowboy bepop
    seven samurai
    infernal affairs

and motherfucking dragon ball (and dbz)

    :edit:

i watched the grudge, nightmares ensued

The only asian movie I ever actually sat through because I like it was about a 6 year old boy whos parents were super rich and they were on a cruise ship thing in china when he fell off and some chinese family found him floating in the water or something and took him to their home and he lived there for a while and the family that took him in had a boy the same age as him and they heard the police were trying to find him so the asian boy and the american boy ran away and blah blah blah eventually they found them at the end... I don't remember what it was called but alot of parts were pretty funny Lol.
