Just to Clarify

Feel free to settle on a rule that suits you and we'll put it to a vote then in the staff lounge, thanks. Everyone is welcome to submit their specific versions or join on others.

 

I am thinking that the threads in the market section should physically only bump every 8 hours. Any additional posts by you after that do not make a difference/don't count for post count. That way you can be free to respond to customers.

 

I think that's just adding extra words and stuff. I'd much rather a simply rule even though it might not be possible to completely capture exactly what the rule is. I also fear putting the word bump anywhere in the rule because we have essentially redefined what that means and avoiding it will hopefully avoid confusion.

I like something like what FireZ posted but I would also like us to distinguish between the market and the regular forum because there is no reason people should be bumping their guide threads every 8 hours. It's pointless. Even if we had a short rule about bumping in the official rules with a distinction between the market and the rest of the forum and a link to a more specific market sticky that more fully explains the market specific bumping rule.

 

I'm really glad to see this resolved, even though I haven't been using the market lately.

 

This definitely needs to be changed. Giving a fair chance is one thing, but then now all big sellers are scared to post because they get infraction after infraction for posting for logical reasons (confirming, interacting with customers and etc).

As said before, allowing the general community to put their word would seem most useful. However with vote, the other half of people who voted one way and didn't their suggestion indicted so there will be unhappy people NO MATTER WHAT. You need to stick with a rule and keep it that way no matter what people says. If a change is required, I would request some sort of petition (of a certain amount of people) be required in order for change to occur. That would prevent just one top seller going "I hate this rule, I almost got banned from infractions, etc etc." and create a bunch of posts about the issues, getting rules changed in a timely manner and effectively is what we are going for.

I brought it up to staff again, the rule is pretty ridiculous at this stage but hopefully we will have it changed soon.
