So I invested in a few things due to everyone panic selling their items.
I'm expecting profit & here's why:

- Once BXPW is over, prices always have gone back up due to players re-buying their possessions back with what money they have left; might not be the case this year - Moving on.

- There is a lot of talk of 'Bot Nuke #2' from players; haven't truly seen any JMod confirm this, but I'm crossing my fingers as it seems like it'd be inevitable.

- Bounty Hunter, also expected to return it seems.
With an item sink, supply lessens; panic buying demand rises.

- The items I purchased gave me 10M under mid total; so I can take a heavy loss on them without worrying too much they'll hit their floor even more-so than they have already.

So what am I saying?

I'm saying invest in things like these while you still can at their all time low & to expect their all time highs if the above falls in place successfully soon.

Very good point. I'm debating on investing all of my gold into items at the moment. A loss from item crashes wouldn't hurt too much. It's a risky but almost full proof profit scheme.

Any guess on if whips will be affected? I put all my money in those before I lost my mems since they were so cheap and its seems they've steadied out :/.

 

If BH returns, you can definitely count on a significant rise as it'll bring an item sink the economy so desperately needs.

But as with all panic hypes, sell/buy at the all time high/low because those prices never stay as the item's worth in the supply; just the temporary demand's.

 

How is BH an item sink? Doesn't Wilderness already exist?

 

In the Wild, some/all of the items go to your opponent.

About the bot nuke 2 - I believe that it HAS been confirmed. Jacmob has apparantly been working on some brand new botting software which I believe is calld 'Optimus' and it is being rolled out soon.

Good luck with your profit though! Last bonus exp I invested a shitload in herbs and was extremely disappointed when the market dipped completely unexpectedly and I lost alot of money. Was my first investment ever This year I am just blowing millions on herblore and not even going to try to make any cash.

I type weird; habit.

I don't like botting & I don't like Jagex; I do think Jagex wastes their time trying to stop bots however due to how severely they underestimate how much greater the desire is for people to cheat rather than the desire to put a stop to it and what heights people go through.

The only tool Jagex has against botters is suing their source - Which doesn't necessarily mean the coding can't be passed on to someone else, elsewhere (AKA Another botting entrepreneur).

But, that's all off topic!

To be honest I wasn't expecting many replies to this topic; just wanted to get my opinion out there and shed some light on those whom don't have one of their own and in need of a guiding light through the chaos of which is the RS Economy.

 

I think your points for investing are pretty good, but you do have to think about inflation in the economy, even if bh comes out the number of any items, whips for example won't go up significantly because people will already have lot of an item.

On the other hand with bh coming out, certain items like food and pots will probably skyrocket

That's what I mean by:

Whips might not necessarily rise dramatically the start of; but more expensive items that can draw in more significant profit for the hoarder such as an AGS, Claws, or Bandos will rise most likely due to how many see those items as a necessity when PVP'ing another player when Chaotics, Torva, and the pricier Spirit Shields don't account for their budget.

You're right though, yes, demand can only be so high for an item until,
A. The supply outweighs the demand in numbers.
B. The price of the supply is seen as more than it's really worth for what it's overall use is.

 

In all honesty, I hope the PVP method comes back where you could PK players all over RuneScape except with real drops. That'd be epic, I loved downing clans in Fally alone.

DDS is considered a "Newb" weapon, very underrated in my opinion.
When compared to Dragon Claws, a lot of Pkers prefer saving for those with other means of poisoning an opponent.
-So no, I would recommend keeping away from any DDS investments; small profits regardless.
Just my opinion.

As for sharks,
They hit 1.75k each recently & I fished them all day every day making "Bank."
Back in November they hit 500each, and I'm not quite sure why they got hit that hard/rose that high - Botting/Merching reasoning's probably.
I'd stay away from those too, just my opinion.

Prayer Pots are always useful, and so are Sara Brews; but they're mostly items for PVM - Some people may use them in PVP, but you don't really see many Pures with 2+ Prayer.

Mainly the only thing I advice you invest in are PVP items like I suggested above.

-Dragon Claws
-AGS
-DFS (Possibly)
-Fury

Pretty much any gear that's used in PVP will be effective in both the Wilderness and Bounty Hunter.

 

Runescape is a game where people spend a lot of time doing things that don't exactly help them all of the time. People spent countless hours playing the game to kill people while wearing armor that took hundreds of hours to actually perform a prayer spell that will save your ass prayer potions.
