Nice job so far on spam reports Laptop.

 

Indeed it is full of suprises, don't worry about it. The main thing is you gave me feedback on my pre-moderating which is really useful to me at the moment.

Thanks, I might be slightly less active during weekdays as I attend College then, however I have Tuesday's off so that's not a huge problem.

Laptop is totally overated. He is a terrible mod and needs to be demoted. I can't believe those moron staff members would give something so coveted to a person like... that..

Please note, there's a difference between leaving feedback for a moderator and flaming one.

Laptop is a new mod and the job takes a little "settling into" - Give him a little time to learn the ropes and he will be fine, had the staff had any doubts he wouldn't have been promoted in the first place.

Every new mod goes through some ups and downs their first couple weeks and they are bound to make mistakes. I cannot name a single mod to date who didn't mess up a few times while they caught on. I know I did, and I still do. We're only human, and you need to remember, we're here on a voluntary basis to assist YOU. I'm all for constructive criticism, but flaming a moderator will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

 

Great post... No more flaming mods who have barely broken in the ban hammer for christ's sake.

Also, N4N0 has been his usual beastly! Great addition to Global (again) and should never ever leave. Ever.

 

Props to Laptop. Dealing with spam reports and locking up threads like a baws.

That's spamming, flaming, and excessive bumping all in one post... He infracted for it correctly. Also Now enjoy the infraction for excessive bumping your topic yet again.

Also Laptop is doing a good job he's cleaning up the rs section nicely everybody makes mistakes when they become a mod, I made mistakes as well so has every other mod when they started. Don't flame him your infraction stays, if it was me I would have gave you an infraction for every single excessive bump you did after you had been infracted the first time for it.

 

I did reverse this, but I didn't see this post until after I spoke with you over PM. I had a discussion with you, and when I realised you weren't flaming anyone in particular, I reversed it. However it still counts as spamming and excessive bumping, but I have not chosen to re-infract the post for that at the moment in time.

I know you and me have had our arguments in the past (that n4n0 thread in particular was a good example). But I hope you've learnt from this mistake is posting as much as I have in infracting you, hopefully now you will know what to post and not to post on your thread and I will check posts a bit more before infracting them.

p.s. im sure all the mods had a few mishaps in their first few weeks, dont sweat it im sure you will get it down in no time.

I've seen the Live Help online today for the first time in about a week. So I joined to see who it was so I could give them some good feedback and it was Laptop65.

Good to see someone actually goes on it.

 

Laptop - You're a witty guy, I'll give you that much. In all seriousness, you have a keen eye kid.

 

Laptop. In the past week quite a bit has happened and judging by my posts It's not a secret that one or two thing that you've done lately has bothered me. That is my personal right though, as you know.

Ever since your promotion, I have seen that you know how to help moderate the site. You're getting reports done, helping with Livechat, and all of that good stuff.

I think you have to understand, though, that your title comes with more responsibility than that. Being a moderator isn't just rising up to that social class, if you would call it that. You are now in the usergroup that more than anyone represents the website itself, and because of this you have to treat the position with a little bit more maturity.

Firstly, you need to stop subtly looking down on people, or throwing it in their faces that you are now a moderator. In my opinion, your overly extended joke about your demotion (including actually giving yourself feedback for it in this thread) was fairly immature. Furthermore, you can't be calling people "wannabe mods". Think about this-- when is the last time that any mod here on Sythe has asserted his position for an unnecessary reason?

What i'm trying to get at is that there is a certain level of maturity that you need to represent the site well. The spam forum is fun and all-- I know you were active there before any of this happened. But posts like

or quoting a post that has nothing to do with you with "Retard!" is simply inappropriate for anybody, in any usergroup or subforum.

There is the recent event in the DL which you decided to take charge of. Please, for yourself, look at the quantity and quality of every single one of those posts compared to everyone else. You have a tendency to take things way too far. (DL incident, demotion thing, Fishy's picture)

What i'm getting at, aside from the necessity of the qualities that I outlined above, is that you are here to make an impression on every member that browses Sythe. You are now a leader and you really, really should act like it. Think about it. Many people on Sythe right now know you as the annoying kid who kept posting in that DL thread. Do you really want that?

I'm not trying to flame you or anything. I'm being as constructive as I possibly can. I remember that you posted on a previous comment of mine that i'm "just trying to blame you because you're new". That is not at all what is happening (and you have to stop using that excuse which has so conveniently been handed to you.) You need to be held accountable for everything you do though, because everything you do is being watched. People are going to see your name and they are going to respect you automatically, Laptop. Don't fail them.

 

Only certain mods can actually host it.. otherwise I'd be on all the time ;/

 

I think your a bit jealous that laptop got promoted to mod tbh..,i know you probably don't think he should be a mod, but he is and he's doing a good job.

What he says in the spam forum doesn't seem to be that inappropriate considering some of the stuff that goes on in there. I also don't think it's that hard to tell when he's joking...
I admit sometimes he can be a little bit immature, but overall he's doing a very good job, and remember he's new to modding. And I've seen him all over the rs section, infracting and locking.

I admit I may have been a bit cheeky here and there and said the wrong thing now and again, but it was mainly the first few days I was a mod. I've calmed down now and am happily speeding through RS spam reports and am hoping to make a start on scam reports when I have the chance.

The spam forum is the spam forum yes, one or two of the posts you pointed out were ones I had posted the same night I was promoted but it was before the promotion itself, I had no idea it was coming remember. And yes, they do look immature and such but to be honest mod or no mod I rarely make posts like that in the spam forum, very rarely. I also don't insult other members seriously, if I have something to say about a particular user I will keep it to myself and not post about them causing flame wars and disruption.

This was a joke, I know it wasn't in the spam forum but it was a joke I can assure you. If I had a problem with what someone had personally said about me I would PM the user not post it publicly.

I stopped with the 'self promotion' thing the night I was promoted, I only mentioned it for a joke as I thought it was funny at the time, but if it really bothers you I can go back and edit it out for you.

At the end of the day I am still fairly new to modding, while I won't be flawless in my posts and what I say I can promise they won't be serious immature or flaming ones, I haven't been in the spam forum as much lately, just here and there.
