It states in the rules the following:

So we cannot advertise a site in a post, but we can in our signatures? I don't see anything wrong with advertising sites in signatures, but to what extent? We can advertise other black markets in our signature on Sythe? But we can't post it.

If I put a big, fat sig (Without exceeding the signature limits), I could say... advertise a whole different market? With it saying "New Blackmarket" or something like that? I only see a negative effect on Sythe with this being allowed. It could temporarily lose some of the members, being confident, or maybe even permanently. Why would Sythe be helping another blackmarket, a competitor, gain popularity? Why is this allowed?

Do keep in mind that my example was a big sig, either way, big or small, it would still end up benefiting/helping our competitor(s).

Edit: I never specified that both posts and signatures should have the same rules, either you can advertise on them or not, not just being able to advertise on one and not the other.

This is not a dictatorship. I am sure Richard wouldn't want the staff running around abolishing any advertisements done in sigs, as that could create more of a negative effect than the advertisements themselves. There has yet to be a problem where advertising in a sig has caused such damage as you are claiming would happen. There aren't many successful black market websites out there, and based on the ones I've seen, there is no threat to Sythe that is too big to handle.

I've only seen a few people advertise black market websites in their sig, and honestly it's nowhere near to possibly becoming a problem at all in terms of diverting attention from this site to theirs. Plus this site is more well known and has been up and running a lot longer than most black market sites.

Advertising a small blackmarket is no different to advertising a big one. In the end, no actions would be taken against you. There should be limits on the advertisements.

I'm not saying that the staff should run around abolishing any advertisements done in sigs. Just the ones that could prove harmful to Sythe, the ones in the same category. In this case it's advertising different black markets. There isn't much harm in advertising smaller black markets, but that's no different to advertising a bigger one. Then again, we cannot just forbid advertising bigger black markets and allow smaller ones. What if the smaller one grows to become one of the bigger ones?

I'm also saying that such thing could arise. I could make a signature of a big black market, one that could pose a threat to Sythe, and tell people to join that on my Sig. Tell me, how does that benefit Sythe? If anything, it could pull members away. Right now, that's pretty much allowed. And since it is, if we were to change it, we would have to do it with all black markets, we cannot just do this with specific ones.

I've seen a few people advertising other black markets, but I don't see the problem, they won't become as popular als Sythe anyways.
However, I agree that if it's not allowed to advertise in a post, neither you should in your signature.

Actually there is a difference. If I advertised one that was brand new and small, its not really going to help because people will go there, see its small and not active, and will never go back. If I advertised say a website like PowerBot in my sig, there might be a chance of that person joining PowerBot, however that doesn't even mean they will leave sythe completely.
This is where my main point comes in. If they try to do this it will end up the same as the current bump rule. Everyone will be arguing over which are acceptable, and which aren't. It will just cause more problems then it will help. I really don't see another site "overtaking" sythe considering we have one of the strongest communities in the "black market" world. The reason sythe succeeds where so many others fail is because of the community we have, without it none of these black market sites will succeed.

Again this is not a dictatorship. Just because we may not agree with it completely, or because it may not benefit sythe in anyway doesn't mean we should be so up tight about it. If anything it will turn people off by showing them that we are overly strict. People don't want to be worrying about everything they do or say because it may get them banned or infracted, which will just harm sythe in the long run, not help it.

I still don't see this as a real issue
It's more of a social stigma and makes you look like a fag if you do that - That is a basis of many ideas like free speech: You aren't going to get alot of people saying random crap, only a few, but everybody will be happier.

It shouldn't cause a problem at all. Even if you advertise a different black market that is not new, there is no problem with being members of multiple communities.

That's no different to Apple advertising Microsoft at the slightest. There might be a chance that people would go with Microsoft, and will still use their Apple laptops, but it would still result in a loss of profit for Apple, even if it doesn't mean much. I don't see anything wrong if someone pays to get a website advertised on Sythe, even if it is a blackmarket.

Ways it could hurt Sythe, not a big impact, but if they donated to that forum, that money would have most likely went to Sythe.

If you want it advertised, pay to have it advertised. Just like another black market that charges $5 per month to advertise another website, even a black market. That's chump change anyway. But let's take that black market for instance, it advertises 3 different websites, gaining $15 a month which results in $180 a year. That's pretty good for barely doing anything.

The subject is completely different from the current bump rule. Who and why would anyone argue? Who would argue that they should be able to advertise a different black market on their signature?

How is it any different if you cannot advertise a website in your post, but you can in your sig?

Did rsbots advertise rsbuddy or any other botting sites (big or small), that weren't connected to it, in any way at all? Why not? It was strictly forbidden, even to post about it. Did anyone think they were so up tight? Or was it just fair?

Why didn't rsbots advertise rsbuddy? Or even allow anyone to post about it? I mean majority of the people already knows about it anyway, and most of them has enough money to buy bots from both websites.

Are you saying that it is fair if I went to a new blackmarket, that had 100 members, and put on my sig "Sythe is the greatest black market ever! Join now!". You think they would allow that? What's wrong with that? Would they take "there is no problem with being members of multiple communities" lightly?

I assume your suggestion was to either disallow signature advertisement or allow users to post advertisement. Denied in that respect. Signatures are content that users look at at their own discretion, threads created to advertise are forced upon users, and if people start spamming threads everywhere, it's an annoyance to people who are perfectly content at Sythe.org.
