Yeah I agree. I doubt they will delete many username log-in names that still have the same display names. They are probably mainly targetting display names. But they are deleting rare display names.

And @MrRSGoldSeller, they will simply get deleted which means it's free for anyone to take. Which results in either name snipers/hoarders getting them again or just a random noob that started rs that wants the name Own could possibly get it.

 

Exactly that's why it's always best to have a Log-In name because it shows seniority to Jagex, and like display names are considered temporary names. thats why they give you the option to change your name every 30 days. Their not permanent names.

 

Or it shows you knew how to steal an account in 2009. they'll delete the login if it's not extremely rare and targeted by a rwter. The reason you won't see any 1 letters get deleted is because they know a rwter will get it before a regular player.

On topic though, any decent name hoarder has a list of his own names. If you add them to a random accounts ignorelist in game, take a picture of the entire ignore list. Then you check it twice a day or so and find anything messed up, you'll know it was one of your names. Find out which one it was and snipe it again.

 

Well, in 2009 recovering names wasn't as easy as it was in 2007 mate when all account were accepted on 1 try in 2006-07 with people such as Ric and Shelz0r and Sam took all of them. Jagex can delete names and not have them released to public for example G, U. Like Jagex won't unlock names like "O" and Runescape because they know they're owned by Rwters. Your less targeted for deletion if you own the login name. Trust me because I've had my names sniped and I got them back because I told them "look, this person stole my username, please revert it back to me" Like that's why when people ask if the name is transferable I'm like are serious? you would buy an account with out the original login? Like I was transfering the name "Gangsta" and it got sniped, and I reported it to Jagex, and they gave me my username in like 2 days of time to the original log in name. Jagex hasnt really understood the rare names business, they just think it's account hijacking. They havn't grasped the concept its a lucrative business as gold farming. They think of it more the lines of hijacking accounts.

 

Lp is probably just mad because he tried buying names then they got sniped. My theory..

Couldn't that mean we can post lists of names, mark them SOLD and wait until Jagex frees them up and snipe them? xD

 

Sythe market mods are pretty keen on knowing when names are illegitimately posted. If anyone tried that they'd probably get banned within hours of the post of the false sale. So that probably wouldn't work, although it sounds like a super clever idea :idea:

 

I think that Jagex is actually monitoring this forum - or that there are people at the high level forums leaking these names and are asking Jagex to check if they are being sold. Not hard to check by the different IP's / passwords / name changes.

 

E: I have left my original comment on for a little while so I hope the correct people seen it, 80 pages of replies is bound to get Jagex's attention.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. The assholes who did this same sort of thing last year ended up being Turbulence and JizzWizard on Sythe.

 

jagex may review an acc if the name is posted here then take possible action, but they cant really do anything if theres nothing suspicous about a acc based off of a name posted here not enough proof (user could be lieing etc)

 

That's definitely what this is. I've actually read that topic recently and am just laughing at how pointless it really is. It seems that there will always be a problem uprising all the time. First it was the bots, then it was with real-world trading and now they are complaining about "sniping" names and there not being any names released.
From what this is mainly that this guy wants to really hoard the names to himself. I have seen people report rare names a couple months back to Jagex and they did get deleted. So that is what I would think that is happening. Or it could be that Jagex has really looked closely at the "Last Known As" to detect transferring/real-world trading of names. I remember a year ago or so when rare names/sniping/transferring were pretty safe and only a few of those who knew the method and had a personal business in obtaining rare names. Now it's a very well known concept.
Whatever for now though I'm very careful about transferring now as I myself have lost two names due to snipers watching on Sythe.

For all we know Jagex might actually be enjoying the Name Sale business. For ever rare name that gets sold, most of the time the buyer will also buy a membership for it. More $ for Jagex.
Maybe the only reason they deleted the names they have is to appease the whiners.

 

LOL this is actually funny. I always miss the new names because of the hoarders. There's still some names I actually want to keep for myself but I'm never there to grab them because some RWT'er wants to sell it.
