Infraction Notification

From what I've heard from other people, it doesn't notify you when you receive an infraction for spamming or something like that. It just shows up on your profile. I was thinking that maybe you could have an automated PM sent to you when you do it so you know. This would probably cut down on them perhaps a little bit, but I know it would help.

 

I believe when a moderator gives an infraction the system allows them to send a PM to the user who received the infraction. If that information is correct than the system is in place and the moderators just need to take advantage of it if they want to.

I have received a PM for every infraction I have gotten.

I have recently just gotten an infraction, and no PM from the mod. Seems like the only mod that has sent me a PM for an infraction was RsProd.

 

I support a notification, or atleast a mandatory PM from the infracting moderator. I have been here for 25 months, and recieved 3 infractions, however I usually did not notice until weeks after the infraction was posted.

 

Its optional for staff to write out the notification to send you, since the fact that if you're doing 100+ spam reports, it probably makes doing spam reports 3x longer if you write out a message for infractions.

Its recommended staff do though.

 

Isn't there a setting or mod for vbulletin that you can set so that when an infraction is given, a notification is automatically sent out?

 

^ Even if something like that did exist, it would end up on the to do list for VB4. Something like that would be interesting though.

An admin could make an account named "InfractionBot" or something and use that mod.

 

If you improved on the quality of your post, you wouldn't have to worry about receiving infractions, thus removing the need to be messaged. This isn't directed at you, i'm just stating a fact.

I would support automated infraction PM's, but I will wait till vb4.

 

I find it's a little tedious to do. I will only actually add the PM if I find that the reason for giving the infraction was not obvious enough.

 

I think that the suggestion is for an automated Private Message to be sent with an infraction, not for them to write them out themselves more frequently.

Yea. I meant to support the idea of an automatic message. It was in my head, but my fingers decided they didn't want to press the required buttons

 

I always just essentially copy the infraction reason into the PM box... Like if its for spam, I just put spam in the box because its quick and easy. If Matt were to make it automatically do that unless you put in a more detailed PM, it'd work just fine.

 

I've gotten a couple unwarranted infractions because mods are humans too and screw up. Sometimes I don't notice them for a day or two or even three.

 

I support, this could cease a lot of problems; not knowing you have an infraction, the possibility of making the same mistake because you didn't know about the infraction, moderators time during spam reports (only using the PM system when they need to), etc.

 

I don't really support moderators having to PM you after each spam report especially if it was for something normal like breaking the bump rule. If there is a way to put in a notification box like when you receive a PM, I'd support that.
