    Dear Music General,

I'm utterly disappointed in most of you.

This section should be for discussion about music, not some generic garbage that is directed for ignorant people who only listen to what's the current trend.

What's music? Music is something you put your heart into, making it for the love to it.

What's garbage then? Garbage is something big music industries composed with great bucks only to pull off more out of it for some time, and when the trend dies they make new one to replace it.

Sadly most of the people here only rely on the later kind of trash, not even realizing what they're doing, and even more, what they are really missing It really breaks my heart seeing this happen.

I here by demand that we get separate sections for music general and the garbage which is hot on the radio for two months and dies.

    Thank you.

"THANK YOU!", for this inspirational thread. I couldn't agree more. I hate how various bands/artist/musicians/singers/lyricists/vocalists/etc. are famous and popular, only because it fits into the popular fads at the time.
This is more personal to me. Does anyone know how it came to be that "Gangsters" are wearing chicks pants, and v-neck shirts? What happened to a good ol' pair of Dickies shorts and a white T? Flaming faggots on the radio nowadays if you ask me. The ones with talent seem to stay underground and thus are less noticed. But have the more inspirational music. These artist have the music that people relate to. These artist have truth in their lyrics. They have experienced the hurt and the pain that backs up the words in their songs. They can talk about life, because they have been through, not only life, but hell also. These are the artists I relate to.

    Example New Boyz:
"I eat the pussy" - New Boyz
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKhytnBU_5E

    VS. Cognito:
    "Hip Hop" - Cognito
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEKL8CjGArI

Okay, so New Boyz are known because of 'popular demand'. Cognito is not on the radio, and bust balls for his career. Cognito is far more legitimate, and I think people can truly, deeply relate to Cognito. Who the fuck wants to hear a song that says "I eat the pussy (since this song is the only thing getting me laid), I eat the pussy (since this song is the only thing getting me laid), I eat the pussy (since this song is the only thing getting me laid)"

I don't know about you but music is getting whack these days...

No offence or anything, but this is a dumb thread that serves zero purpose other than to hate on change in the music industry.

People are discussing music here, what are you even referring to?

On the front page of this section, we have threads discussing:

"What do you listen to when you work out?"

"Last album you listened to beginning to end, no skipping!"

    "House & Trance thread"

    "Tech N9NE"

"Poll: Is Drake ACTUALLY A Good Rapper?"

    "Rap song?!"

    "Poll: dubstepping!"

"Songs that take your breath away."

    "Bob Dylan"

Just the first 9 threads or so not including this one. What is so wrong with this picture, that you had to make a thread about it? All threads about music people like and are interested in chatting about.

People make music for different reasons. Some do it to solely make money, some do it to express emotions, some do it to relieve stress, some to do it for fun, some do it for the expression of style, and some do it for the love of making music. What difference should it make? If a certain song attracts your attention and you enjoy listening to it, what should it matter? I'm probably missing your "you don't understand, I'm saying all this mainstream stuff has no heart" point you're trying to make, but really, does it matter? People like different things, and if they like what they hear on the radio, is that really so terrible?

Look, I realize that there is a lot of shitty music on the radio and sometimes a person posts it here because they like it. I get it, but instead making a thread making you sound like a douche, why not enlighten us by posting music you feel fits your musical ideology? People here would definitely enjoy it.

Despite agreeing with some of what you said, I have to point out that music often reflects different parts of society and the whole hiphop/rap/dubstep/dance culture is just dominating at this point in time. There will always be amazing bands around, both exposed to mainstream and hidden from it. I have to agree with you that 99% of people are too ignorant to look out of what is "in" and discover some of the treasures of the past and present. But you have to realise music carries different meanings to everyone, and it is best to have an open mind to different styles.

That said, some relatively known songs that really have relevance to my life.. just a couple off my favourites list

I can't be part of this discussion, I am more of a death metal fan and an 80s rap fan. Psh, I listen to whatever I please. I like dubstep/brostep for the same reason I loved Bring Me The Horizon's first EP and CD, they have lots of energy. I am pretty picky about what I listen to, but Loyal is right. This thread just makes you sound like a huge douche, and the kid who posted below you a massive tool. People make music for different reasons.

    This whole thread is stupid.

Music is music. If you don't like another persons music, or think it's "garbage", DON'T LISTEN TO IT! I'm assuming in this thread you're talking about dubstep being garbage. Personally, I like dubstep. It's good party music, and parties make me happy when I feel bad. Thus, dubstep makes me feel good. How is that different for whatever music you listen to? (I only read the OP, not responses).

Music is music, everyone has different tastes on what they like. I mean I like 90s and don't mind the 80s. I don't really think much of music released today but if people want to listen to that then they can. Saying a certain genre of music is crap isn't really a valid opinion, as what if someone says your music genre is crap? Everyone has different tastes and different opinions.

the funniest part is the fact that you probably like some mainstream stuff but are too emotionally immature to admit it

Slipknot is a fine example of trendy music for posers! However you kind of missed the point here because this isn't a metal music discussion. Your ignorance reveals you to be the same with Slipknot fans.

This isn't a debate about an opinion really. It's the truth.
    What do you mean?
What do you mean by my music genre? You should read the first before posting.

You're absolutely right, and Nirvana is a fine example of a band that can make music they like, not what is selling at the moment, and still be successful.

Most people fail to see the point of this thread. Now if you don't maybe you're exactly the kind of people, consuming this crap, I'm talking about. ;)
